Tax Law for buying out of state car?

If you buy a car out of state, are you still required to pay taxes to your state when the car is titled? Do they need to see an invoice? Can you pull strings? Any feedback is appreciated.

You dont pay the taxes to the out of state dealer. You pay it when you register and title the car in your state. I have bought a few cars out of the state/country before.

It actually depends on your state. Most states allow you to pay taxes in your own state, but a select few, such as Mississippi I believe, require that you pay taxes in that state as well. The car dealer should know the tax law, but your local Department of Revenue can tell you for sure.
