:stop FICO Score

What are some of the tools you have used in the past, or present, to watch, or manage your FICO score?

I found this site, http://www.myfico.com/, which seems nice. While promising all three credit reports. You really only get Equifax mainly, and the other's are $15 per pop to see your updates.

While it promises 'score watch' the only way you get updates is to pay for them. The score watch is like $10.95 a pop.

Has anyone used other options in the past, or now, to keep an eye on things?

I'm trying to get the FICO way up there for the best interest rates. Mainly for buying real estate. It has been helpful, but I am looking for something a bit more inclusive w/o $15 per pop shit.

Thanks in advance.

No. Not if it's the actual credit bureaus you are going through.

It goes down if you have a bunch of inquiries. Like applying for credit cards, bank loans, mortgages, etc. If you are watching it through credit bureaus, it doesn't go down.

Just like if you get your annual free one's. That doesn't hit you for the few points a normal inquiry would. I believe it depends on which type it is. I remember reading something about that.

Here it is..

An inquiry is a notation in your credit history that indicates someone was looking at your report.

There are two types of inquiries: soft and hard. Soft inquiries do not impact your credit standing-they occur when your credit report is checked by you, a prospective employer, or for the purpose of pre-selected credit card offers.

I checked out that truecredit.com

Actually I like it a lot better than the myfico.com. You get all three reports side-by-side with your credit scores, and so on. Very nice.

It just goes to show the difference in these. I ran the truecredit.com (Trans Union), and it's three credit scores are different than those on myfico.com (Fair Isaacs/Equifax).

How ironic.

My biggest concern at the moment is a difference in 100 points between them.

FICO's are the biggest scams.

If you run your FICO, your score could say.. 680.
But, if they banks run it, it could say 560-590.

I have seen it first hand!

It's BS, MYFICO does not take into account ' risk factors ' which
the banks always use.

it pisses me off...

Not sure where you are buying but it rarely effects anything on mortgages unless you are in the high risk category.

I qualified through the lender who is the determining factor in purchasing real estate anyways. They should be able to tell you your score and what to do to improve. Helps to know someone in the business or get good referall. I am lucky enough to have a morgate/real estate combo and a good friend.
Cnnmoney has alot of great info on the subject as well.

For 3 free credit reports per year....really free.
www.annualcreditreport.com I believe they have FICO option for $9.

I signed up for Myfico because I wanted to keep a watch on my accounts since I was doing some things that were going to based entirely on my credit reports (no doc loans). Unfortunately, while it orginally shows all 3 bureaus, it only monitors Equifax, but the emails it's been sending me have been quite informative.

I'll probably cancel it in a few months. Here in GA we get 2 reports a year from each bureau for free even before the national thing rolled out.

If your a member of costco you can get into a great online account offer. Like under 8.00 a month, all three agencies, scores, monitoring, email notifications of changes etc, calculators, reasonings, etc.

I do not think we have a costco around here. If there is one, I am not sure where it would be.

That truecredit.com was nice, and I know that my mortgage broker uses them when they pull your reports, and scores for loans. So that's festive. But I believe it's $14.95. Which is nothing, and well worth it to get my credit score into the top percentages, and the nice interest rates. So the month recurring is not an issue.

I just want one that monitors all three unlimited. No additional $14.95 each time like on myfico.com. That true credit does them all side by side, so that has helped me in trying to track down why one of the reports is a 100 points off, and the other 50.

A nice feature when trying to find, and fix errors.

I get the 3 bureau report & credit score from credit.com.... It's pretty easy to compare. And also, if you request your own report, it does not affect your score.
