Love the car man, nice job. What have you done to the bottom end? If nothing you should be warned that with that paticular block, no one likes pushing them much past 400rwhp (and thats a general number, I'll ask aorund just to make sure that nothing has changed in the last year or two). Also, you might want to consider getting an ACT gauge if you plan on beating on it in the summer. I see you got the IC there, but 12 pounds of boost can lead to bad things if it gets too warm. Like I said, I love the car, and what you've done to it, I would just hate to see you grenade the bottom end.

As far as the intake goes, your not going to find anythign much better than an FR500. However, most people who are running an SC are goign over to a Bullit intake, those flow quite a bit better. If thats a 2 valve motor, there's plenty out there for cams and I can point you in the direction of a couple of really good boards that targeted towards that motor.

Congrats, enjoy the ride:thumbsup

Yah the sc runs pretty hot. Thinking of a methanol injecter or maybe a hood scoop. What do you think? So far the temp is running right along factory specs, no increase at all. The aintercooler does a great job on the air, but yah I am concerned about the sc during the summer.

It's a 3v, I have talked to a lot of experts and from what I gather everyone who has tried to drop a cam in could not even get the car to run. Comp cams has one they say will work but again, people have told me they could not get it to work properly. Pretty sure I'm at the max on hp for this block so I think I will not make any more changes. However I have a 97 and a 98 we are going to build and sc. the 97 is already built good with 325 rwhp. SC dropped on it we should get 500 RWHP I think. It's very tight

I have heard of people having good luck with methanol injection. One group of guys you might want to talk to is Snow Performance. they have been doing some cool stuff with water injection for a roots style blower.

Just out of curiosity, did you move your intake air temp sensor to a position where it is after the aftercooler? If you did, you might just be able to pull a signal from that. Engine temp is really that important, but Charge Air Temp is. If you have your IAT sensor after the SC then your tuner can set it up so it starts pulling a lot of timing and dumping fuel if you start blowing really hot air. It would be similar to how the 03-04 Cobra works with a combination of O2's, rear O2's, and the CAT sensors. it would pull timing and dump you way rich when those 3 got out of spec. Rob's a bunch of power, but it save your engine.

Yea, I havn't really seen anyone coming out with anything that works very well for the 3V in cams yet. That will also go for your intake too then. When you get to it, I would like to see some dyno charts and here what you have done for mods on the other two. I just picked up an 03 Crown Vic trooper that has the PI (performace improved, not police interceptor) motor, and I've been playing with it a bit. matter of fact I'm back on the rollers tomorow to see if I have my fuel issue fixed.

93sc 11-27-2006 02:37 PM

post #56 should read Engine temp isn't really that important

Thats pretty crazy... Thats not Titan motor sports is it? I heard they were decent... I am afraid how much it would cost to make my ride Nos ready (bullet proof) Tranny/Engine/Drivetrain ect

Depends on how big of a shot you want to run. For teh most part you don't have to worry too much about the rear end untill you get past 400rwhp. That will vary slightly with how much your starting with, both power wise and equipment. The tranny can usually be taken care of with a tune and a shift kit. The engine is where it gets interesting. Your best bet is to find a form or club for your vehicle. There is a ton on information there becuase for the most part, if you can think of it, somone has already done it and broke it.

Mr Pheer 11-27-2006 05:35 PM

why did you go with a centrifugal blower instead of a roots type?

basicly what you have is a belt driven turbo and it has to spin up to make good boost. With a roots type you have all the power right off the start.

Roush make a roots type supercharger that bolts right on your engine. Ford uses it on the GT500 and also sells it for the F150

93sc 11-27-2006 06:21 PM

The biggest problem with roots type SC's is that they turn into heat pumps due to thier design. Now an autorotor or a twin screw is really the shit. You get almost all the power on the bottom end, without the heat penelty at the high end. Plus you can get away with running more boost with a centi than a roots type before you blow shit up, just due to the nature of where the power is in the curve.

93sc 11-27-2006 06:22 PM

Choker, got a couple of good coments for you regarding that 3V. The first is from the shop I do business with, and they really know their shit. The 2nd is from a local guy who has some experiance blowing shit up.

Quote:

We made 500rwhp on a stock 3v bottom end, Im sure its a time bomb, but its held up all summer, and a few trips to the track, till he spun it around.

But the 3v bottom ends, are the same as an older 2v. However because they have a better head and intake design they can make more HP at a lower RPM. 430rwhp should be just fine with a good tune.

Rember its RPM and detonation that kills these motors, not power.

Quote:

It will probably take less than 12psi to hit the 430 mark anyway, there's several 550+rwhp turbo 3v's that are living, not that it's a good idea but it can be done. I've heard of one that ran all last season with 700+rwhp without incident.....just more proof it's not hp that's killing the powdered iron rods, they just have no room for error.

Congrats on a sweet ride.

Just picked up a new car last week myself, Feels GOOOOD:pimp

It is a bit more of a family car then this baby but still has around 400HP from a Turbo, Intercooled 6 cylinder so it's not all bad.

Great info man, my mechanic was saying the same thing about detonation. What I am scared of with the methanol injector is that many tell me it will dry out and crack gaskets over time. Any thoughts on this?

SleazyDream 11-27-2006 07:03 PM

what's the price tag on a toy like that?

I spent quite a bit of time comparing different blowers, asking experts. Vortech went all out on their 06 package for the stang. it says it will add 160hp with the smaller pully. We are at/very close to 460 now with the bigger one and flowmaster headers, so I would say their calculation of 160hp gain is dead accurate. I don't think I can get the power out of a roots type like I can the Vortech. With big pulley we got 383 rwhp and 428lbs tq. Plus cost was a factor, by far the Vortech was the cheapest. $5000 included EVERYTHING, even the computer, fuel pump, injecters, Literally everything. The drive train on the stang is pretty good, only a 15% loss in HP. We left all the factory goodys in including the traction control so it still rides smooth as hell. I was gonna lower it , etc, but I don't think I will. I like the luxery ride too much.

Pretty cheap actually, I think I gave like 31k for the car, 8k for the blower, labor. So I have like 39k in it.
