you wake up, check stats, email and GFY instead of taking a shower, eating some fast breakfast and going to the office to meet real people

Working from home is not for everyone. Coming from a corporate background, I sometimes miss working with others.
But after over 10 years SOHO working, there is no turning back. The thought of being chained to an office desk for eight hours a day fills me with dread. The fact that most of us can work anywhere with internet access is truly liberating, but by the same token it can be difficult switching off in a 24/7 business - so it important to have hobbies/interests that are non-work related. |

I like being able to get up on monday and think bollocks to it! sit in bed all day and watch movies or whatever!
My dad worked a high stress office job for years and when I think about it I don't think you could pay me enough to get up every day and sit in traffic or on an overcrowded train for 2 hours to go up to london and work in an office |

Mental health? Wtf. being around other people is bad for my mental health. I can't stand the stupidity and ignorance of the 'average joe'. If I was to become someone's employee, I'd probably get fired within a week for mouthing off to the stupid boss.

Working from home just rocks! You wake up, fight with your morning wood, check your email, smoke some weed, spam on gfy, start working, watch funny clips and porn while your working and at the end of the day you go the bank and charge your checks. So what you want more?

People with offline/outside/normal jobs and friends and stuff would probably see my lifestyle as unhealthy, but I was born a hermit and it suits me perfectly. I sit at my computer all day, get out of the house only to stock up on food and nicotine. If I could do that online and get them delivered to my house by a robot or something... well, one can always dream. I had a couple of friends when I was younger, but they were baggage. I got fed up with having to come up with an excuse every time they wanted to get together. I meet my family once or twice a year and that is more than enough.
Now when I finally got the lifestyle I always wanted, it has got to the point where I get highly anxious when I have to make a phone call or meet people. Especially new people. Back when I was in school and was forced to interact with people every day, I had fairly good people skills. Now I can't read them at all and that makes meeting people even more difficult. Not to mention I have lost a good quarter of my formerly wide Finnish vocabulary due to only speaking English at home and with my online acquaintances for over two years.

![]() Eight years for me working in corporate code of conduct, hyper sensative racial, sexual, and religious tolerance to the point you had to watch every thing you did and said or someone would run to management. The drama. People you did not like. Managers (when I was union), double standards, Hypocrisy on tap. Not to mention chained to desk, or micro management. Yeah. Taken as a whole. I'll pass. I prefer to eat when I want.. not when scheduled. If I am sick I can stay home, go to the dr's, and not worry about how many days I have left. I can take as few, many, or as long as I want vacations at the time of year I want. Not when seniority, or busy times dictated. I could go on and on. Plus I make more now then I did putting up with all that horseshit. Being self emplyed is VERY liberating, and there is no amount of money you could pay me to go back to corporate America. ![]() |

Nah.
I work harder for myself then I EVER worked for someone else. Even back then, making $25+ an hour, you could not pay me enough to stay beyond a 8 hour shift. I work more than that easily now. But since it's for me, and I enjoy my work, I do not watch the clock like I did then. As for lack of movement. Buy a treadmill. ![]() |
