lol - I suppose they did have reason to gloat, but I was over it when down at the local beach and overheard 2 poms talking.

Pom 1 - 'this sand, it just gets everywhere'
Pom 2 - 'well what do you expect from a country that can't play cricket'

I always thought it was good the English won the last series. It does get boring if it's never competitive, and plus it's kind of funny to see the English win something, they get so excited because it's such a rare occurrence.

I know...let's leave our best spin bowler out and instead have one of the 'old guard' in whos not quite recovered from injury and has no confidence. After all he's white and 'one of the lads'. :(

Don't suppose the Aussies fancy lending us a couple of bowlers?

See, you think they don't know it and that will hurt. Listen to any sports chat radio show and they never deny that Aussies kick their ass in just about any sport. They enjoy having that huge hurdle to overcome.

so i dont have a clue what cricket is or what your talking about, but i'm guessing its a cricket world cup final against australia by the way your going on about it.

I am sure most British people - not just English - have heard of 'The Ashes'. Sort of hard to miss it being mentioned on tv, radio, papers, etc.

When I first moved here it was baffling but a decade on I pretty much get it.

I was just trying to have some friendly banter with you. Relax, it might do some good. I wasn't being mean with my initial comment but just taking the tone in which the thread was started and being surprised that anyone has manged to escape it. There is a Scottish person in this thread that knew what I was talking about. Chill.
