O.K. guys now you know one of the best kept secrets in the U.S. for homes and real estate value, Atlanta, Georgia. I've lived in Dallas and Denver and visited 45 states and Atlanta just seems to have the most choices for just about everything you want. If you guys can afford a little bit more then here's what $850K can buy you.

Atlanta has had a MUCH smaller increase in prices that most metropolitan areas - but it's been steady. So far, buying real estate here has been a good investment. Not the 200% increase like some places in CA, but it will probably remain viable instead of bursting here.

Our house in Atlanta (Buford) goes for around $340k ... 3300SF (5000+ with daylight basement which could be finished easily), 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms built in 2005 and a ton of houses in the community just like it, all for sale.
Only downsides are, is that they were built for speed and convenience. They are considered "luxury" homes in the area, but they aren't the best quality and almost every house is identical inside and out. Same plain walls, tan carpet and floorplans. The paint jobs were rushed and after only being up for 2 years, I can see many things going wrong with it in the next 10 years. They look really nice and big... but they could be better. We plan on building a house one day in the near future. I want things done right, not for "right now." like these cookie cutter houses. As a rental though, it's awesome. Except knowing that we pay for the owner's mortgage, twice over. :Oh crap |
