mattress types/brands
Well I am moving in a few months and want to get all new stuff. Most of the stuff I know what I want, but I don't know about this mattress stuff.
Any experience with those mattresses with firmness controls - are they any better - just a gimick - and if you want to sprawl out over the whole bed - can you feel the dividing line? What about those memory foam things. I bought one a few years ago - not memory foam, but pocketed coil - as I liked the idea, but it doesn't really seem that much better - if any - than others I have slept in. Going to the store doesn't seem to help - as I can't really get a good idea from the testing I can do there. Lust looking for some opinions from those that may have been in the same boat. King size (if it matters) and $2k or less for box spring/mattress set. |

Most beds are gimmicks.
Just get a straight forward king size bed. Simmons, Sealy, and Serta are the best brands. Simmons is the best because it has individual pocket coil system - so if they don't have simmons get something that has independant coil system. Make sure you buy a frame with at least 6-7 legs too. As far as sheets go - make sure you get 100% egyptian combed cotton sheets. enjoy :-)

i love my queen size sealy pillow-top posturepedic. i think it was $600 for the mattress w/ the box spring and the wheel frame thing, from Bon Marche. it has no firmness features or anything, but i've had it for almost 2 years and it hasn't shown any wear (even with a fair amount of activity).
the ONLY complaint i have with it is that there are fewer sheets available for the pillow-tops.

I got one of those sealy neverturn matresses...holy cow...
One side (the top side) has that memory foam stuff in it...its awesome...its only got one side meant to be slept on...you never have to turn it...and its comfortable as hell...kinda firm but the top 2 3 inches is really soft in a weird way...you'll like it...

Some people might not care about their mattress, but if I am going to spend a good part of the night there - it might as well be a nice one. Three people had good opinions on the subject. So I got a good start. Thanks for the responses. I will give them all a look. As far as sheets go - I found these when looking at stuff in the cybererotica vault: http://www.betweenthesheetsinc.com/b...=linensale.asp Can't imagine spending $1,000 on sheets - even if they are only points.... |
