i was unsuccessful at removing it completely from one of my machines just using spybot and hijackthis even tried manually removing it but couldn't seem to get rid of it

What you have to remember is that the average consumer doesn't have a clue as to the spyware, adware, viruses, etc. they have on their computer.

its almost impossible for someone with skills to keep on top off - much less someone that uses their computer for a couple of hours a day or a week
