First off, anyone who's against weed should educate themselves about the subject. It's a plant. It grows naturally, at one point pretty much all over the world. It's a medicine. It's for you, use it, enjoy it.
It's true that weed makes a lot of people lazy and unmotivated, but that's mostly because it makes you realize how pointless the things you were about to do actually were. IE, Weed smokers wouldn't make so many useless, bitchy, bitter complaint threads. And those lazy, useless stoners who do nothing with their lives probably would have done the exact same thing, just with more boredom involved.
Ask college professors, scientists, that genius kid in your class. Chances are they smoke.
I, myself, smoke/vaporize weed all day. It keeps me relax, sit down and concentrate on monotonous tasks like writing and making websites/blogs, editing photos, keyword research, etc. That and it keeps me creative when i'm in the studio making music, graphics or videos.
As for driving high, I don't do it myself beacause I'm just not good at it. Some people find it safer and easier to drive stoned, they're more mentally relaxed, no road rage, no speeding.
Do I think i'm cooler because I smoke weed? No.
Why do stoners brag about their weed? Because we love it. Good weed sometimes gives me butterflies in my stomach. It's just like showing someone a photo of your new chick or whatever.
Don't smoke? That's your choice. Some people don't like it. More for me.

In some people i think it boils down to what is 'fun'. I used to smoke, don't any more, but when I did I enjoyed it. I never got sick, never got into fights, didn't piss on anyone, rape anyone, kill anyone. Not that I've raped or killed anyone while drinking, but I very much have gotten sick, gotten into fights, and pissed on a couple people(which lead to at least one fight). That's not fun to me.
Given a choice, I'd much rather spark a nice bowl than go out for beers.
Now, given Franck's initial post...sure, you look at the extreme of ANY category of user of anything and you'll find fools. The people that post their pot? thats just dumb.Comment

I'd be inclined to say that this type of thing isn't reported as often as it's not tested for as frequently as alcohol is. To be honest I never understood the whole weed culture, posting pictures of buds and bongs and stuff... I smoke once a month or so, and it's fun, but I wouldn't go around bragging about how high I was or post on the internet that I was about to go smoke.
That being said, I have been known to start a thread or two about special bottles of alcohol I was about to consume, so who am I to judge.Comment

I've wanted to read some of Leary's work for a while now, yet haven't made it around to it. I've just got so much stuff lined up to read already. As for Crowley, I haven't put much thought into it yet, even after constant recommendations by a good friend (i think it could be quite possible that i'm putting it off just to irritate him). I just have so much lined up that I want to read right now, and the pile is growing.
Recent reads (recent being the last 3 months, I don't really read that much.) for me have been A Seperate Reality by Carlos Castaneda, The Satanic Bible by Anton Szandor LaVey, Twilight of the Idols & The Antichrist by Friedrich Nietschze, Thus Spake Zarathustra by Nietsche, Narziss & Goldmund by Hermann Hesse (I really want to read some more Hesse), The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Mushashi, and Choke by Chuck Palahniuk(awesome novel)...
So much to read and so little time! I hit the jackpot digging through my stepmother's old boxes of books the other day. Loads of old sociology, and psych texts. As well as a handful of good philosophy books. Found a good book titled Deviants & Deviancy that I've started to thumb through, I think it' next up on the blocks. But then again I've had a couple other books sitting in the queue for a while now. It's a toss up I guess. Between Journey to the East - Hermann Hesse, The Art of War (can't remember the dude's name), or Diary - Chuck Palahniuk.
I think I'm going to have to go SMOKE A JOINT and hit the books again.
Is Crowley that good? I might have to give him some more serious consideration if people keep bringhis name up...Comment

You short term memory deteriorates a bit....but more from not training your
memory than from the use of weed itself. Most depends on the user himself

I'm not saying weed is harmless coz it's not but it's not as bad as society wants
us to believe. Abuse is bad....with weed, alcohol, other drugs.......simple as that
but if you use in moderation and have a healthy lifestyle it's not nearly as bad
as commonly accepted drugs like alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, etc, etc.
