    Amateur Site Profit Share Question

    A big hello to all at GFY,

    I am a webmaster/web designer and have been approached to take care of a models site in the UK. Could someone please let me know what kind of profit split I should be looking at. She has good content and currently has a basic site and does not really push it.

    I will be redesigning it and adding the various scripts, payment gateways and looking after the promotion. I have heard thoughts of 60-40% in the webmasters favor but have also heard other splits.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Also any warnings and possible pitfalls would be a good heads-up.

      depends on her involvement, if she assists in marketing, is avail for industry shows on her dollar, does her content and adds personality you should do 50/50 at least. with her.

              I would agree that it depends on the contributions made. If you feel she is going to be responsible for 50% of the success of the program then I would give her 50%. This can change over time so you two may want to discuss plans for this. Incentives for time worked and such. 50/50 rarely ends up that way

                  Also a one page agreement between the two of you about how the first year will go can help. Just draft a one page plan together that includes commitments and both sign it. Its not exactly a contract, but it will be a good point of reference if things change in time.

                      I think a contract is a MUST in your situation, you don't want to redesign, code, etc and then be terminated as soon as your work is done.
