It is always odd living abroad around Thanksgiving

I went home last year and that was the first real Thanksgiving that I had been to in years. Thanksgiving is perhaps the one holiday where I feel the most displaced from my roots. I can buy turkey over here just fine because it is what people eat for Christmas over here so it is on sale but the feeling of the holiday isn't here at all. With other holidays that are largely American there is usually at least a half hearted homage to it..like Halloween.

Yet, I will off to buy a little bit of Turkey today and force a British friend to eat it with me.

I never ate turkey... or drank turkish coffee for that matter.
