It really depends. I have Mom, Dad, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 sisters in law, 2 nephews and 3 nieces. We all make lists ranging from high priced items to low priced items. I buy wine/candle/etc. gifts for friends and those whose parties I attend, and give some cash to the lady who works at the front gate. I usually end up spending a few thousand I guess.
We always do something "different" too. This year we are drawing names and you have to get something for that person that's less than $5, it has to make them laugh and it has be wrapped in yellow paper.
1.5k for: parents, girlfriend, brother, sister and 2 good friends, the usual christmas cards for all mainstream business partners and a bottle of red wine for the really good ones.
One of the things on my list was a recent picture of everyone that reflected them in a frame that reflected them. My brother is a huge Gators fan so I'll get something from him with a gator on it. My Dad loves to drive his Corvette around with the top down and his dachound sitting on his lap while the other drivers are avoiding him in horror - I'd love to get a picture of that
I have a lot of pics of the family but none recent and I thought allowing them to pick their own frames would add some personality to the wall I plan on putting them all.
Plus it's a pretty inexpensive thing for those who don't have a lot of $$$.
Maybe around $1,5k, no GF this time (atleast seems so now) so that saves a couple of 100 bucks, but I do buy for much more than I get presents for and I like it alot

Hell I think I spend close to 500 on just food an crap for the days around the holidays. Then a few hundred more on some ornaments and crap (we collect them). Then well yeah prolly another 500-1000 on the girl, and another 500 to 1000 on assorted family members and friends.
