    Urgent question about US customs and duties

    For $6000 worth of electronics made in Japan coming FedEX from Japan, would there be import duties slapped on at the border?

              Sure there's duties payable on $6k's worth - tho don't know the percentage. Fedex will want to know for their bill of laiding and normally advise the recipient of whatever is due before they get release from customs.

              But... you can get lucky, but that's freaky

                  Depends on what your exported filed on his shipping forms.

                  If its marked as commercial goods, in my experience those fees we're collected before the items could be collected by the shipping company...

                  Never had anything imported through Fed Ex though... I was working with container loads...

                      if its Fedex all the paperwork will be legit and you may be in for as much as 50%
                      in duties taxes and Fed ex fee's.
                      At least that has been my experience when I lived in the U.S
                      Call Fed ex they will give you a close amount on the phone.
