baddog, you're such a dumbass. You're sole purpose in this thread is to troll jacklaidlaw because he has some additional zango information? Admit it, you're just a sigwhore aren't you baddog?

Anyway, yes they had live cam feeds 10+ years ago. For such an old fucker, did you get into the internet late? There were cam reflectors, and cams long long ago. How about White Pine? Do you remember them? Or the Cornell CU-SEEME?

You can definitely complain about Zango to the FTC though. They know what Zango is up to but will surely prioritize their list of scummy companies based on the number of complaints received.

From: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2006/11/zango.htm

(The FTC press release concerning the proposed consent agreement with 180 Solutions/Zango)

"The agreement will be subject to public comment for 30 days, beginning today and continuing through December 5, after which the Commission will decide whether to make it final.

Comments should be addressed to the FTC, Office of the Secretary, Room H-135, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580.

The FTC is requesting that any comment filed in paper form near the end of the public comment period be sent by courier or overnight service, if possible, because U.S. postal mail in the Washington area and at the Commission is subject to delay due to heightened security precautions."

There's more stuff about the FTC and Zango here, including an analysis of the proposed agreement to "aid public comment."

The FTC snail mail address listed in bold above is as good a place as any to submit comment about Zango; be sure to relate your comment in some way to the proposed consent agreement/settlement, though, or they will likely not give your comment much consideration.

We would need some major awareness brought to this, in order to have any kind of effect probably. Strong letters written who make good solid points and raise issues they may not have considered. I would love to see Jayeff come up with something we could all print, sign and mail in too. Anyone who has read his thoughts knows what I mean.

Zango every day makes everybody sick!

Yep. Good prose and organized thoughts are both good; documented evidence of possible criminal activity, and/or documented evidence of conduct that fails to comport with what they've agreed to do under the proposed consent agreement - either of those would be even better.

Honestly, research like Ben Edelman's, alone, might be enough to get the FTC to reexamine their settlement with Zango, assuming the information he has presented is accurate, and his data (and documentation of that data) holds up to scrutiny.

If you want to protect your site from zango you should check out this thread and bump it occationally as this maybe the answear to stopping zango from stealing sales untill they are banned https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/679128-zango-breakthrough-zango-stopped.html

Do you think all words that we use for adult sites are exclusivly used for adult and none of them also have common uses in mainstream ?

What about "disney webcams" ? the word "teen" how often is that associated with adult sites? I am sure there are a good bit of terms that have porn and non porn uses that kids could be looking for.

They just want to get the free game or whatever it is they want, so they click "yes", "ok", "I agree" but they have no clue what they're getting. My niece is 11 years old and every time she touches the computer, it ends up with some crap in it. All she does is play games and chat with friends. Good thing she has her own and no valuable info in it.

Missie

this is very true... i have my nephews playing with flash games in our pc's here then after that the pc went to shit and something. then i tried to clean and then i ended up formatting 2 of the pc here thats bullshit! seen a lot of popups when theyre playing... i tild them not to click anything that wants them to install somethinng especially that zango bullshit

Yeah Jayeff has the thoughts to words process figured out quite well. :thumbsup

I am also quite confident Ben Edelman will rip Zango a new one. He has just today published an analysis of how Zango is still breaking the terms of the FTC's settlement on his anti adware site. I assume he will forward it all to the FTC as well but the more the merrier. :)

I can just immagine parents telling their kids no computer until we get it fixed after seeing some of these popups

I have a consulting and repair service and my techs get plenty of "Will you take the porn pop up off my kids computer?" requests and without exception the KIDS computer that is filled with games and the history is filled with game cheat sites and whatnot has tons of porn pops...

I would like to take this issue to an aggressive Attorney General and see what they think.

jacklaidlaw 11-20-2006 06:49 PM

well its getting to the stage where zango has been over promoted and can no longer fly under the radar undetected I think its only a matter of time before they get closed donw or slapped with so many restrictions there is no other choice but to stop operations

fr0gman 11-20-2006 06:54 PM

I wonder what kind of ads you would get if you searched for "cheerleader uniform"? My daughter is a cheerleader and she is certainly under 18.
