The only mods that have that problem are the "soft mods" or software mods, because you can't turn them off. A "hard mod" or hardware mod comes with a handy dandy on/off switch.
When the mod is turned on, it boots with the software that allows you to play all the games for free and all the old games, DVDs without region restrictions, etc. When it's turned off, it boots normally and plays online with any hard copy game you own just fine.
It's not a matter of being too broke for anything. It's just being smart enough to not pay retail for anything. My jew blood just won't allow it.
