    FHGs: Simple or Stylish?

    Affiliates...

Do you prefer... Simple FHGs, focused on content, minimal to no graphics on them & lots of text?

Or do you prefer, fancy, graphical FHGs that show off design style?

When you see simple galleries in an affiliate program, does it seem cheap to you, or does it seem like the program knows what they are doing?

In my experience, plain, simple, flat colored table galleries convert like crazy over fancy graphical galleries. But for some reason, I don't recall ever seeing simple FHGs in any program.

What are your thoughts on this?

        both

sometimes where it is going calls for stylish, sometimes simple

why not have both, same content, two different styles?

The majority of programs don't run TGPs etc. so they don't really understand that source of traffic. Also, they have graphics designers do their templates and those guys will make things as graphics heavy as they can. I would argue that a superior designer can make "stylish" galleries that are still "simple" and geared to SELL. Which is what we're supposed to be doing.

Most people look to "competition", "saturation" as the reason for getting less sales these days. But in my experience, a lot of it has to do with forgetting that something like 30%-50% of the NA surfers are still on dial-up, not to mention the rest of the world. So basically they've left all that money on the table.

If you want to make more money... do up your own galleries from the program provided ones and make them "simple". Host them on their free hosting or use one of the old time free hosts. You still get free hosted galleries but will make more money and if you use your head you can get some other benifits as well.
