That was just when another plane hit then I had to look away then looked back couldn't believe what I was seeing then we both stopped what we were doing and just sat there watching the tv for the next hour then I had to go and be with friends and family.

I was working at my first job out of College, an American Insurance Company in Toronto. Anyways, was lisening to Howard Stern and he was talking about it. I thought he was joking. Crazy day for sure
|
i was in school and nobody told us what was going on...
then when i got home i found out |
I was driving to work listening the radio, they announced the first plane hitting and I was like "wtf, that's not funny"... Parked, went into the office, but I was too embarassed for believing some radio joke to ask anyone. I sat down and typed "www.cnn.com" and the site wasn't loading, so I finally asked the guy in the next cube if he had heard anything unusual on the news and he was like "omg where the fuck have you been!"

In Vegas Driving a limo. Our warehouse was just off the take of runway of McCarran airport, and we had a contract with a helicopter tour company.
No planes, no helicopters. Empty skies. 1000's of People were at the Greyhound station trying to get out. (not a great nieghborhood at night) Cabbies and limo drivers were getiing fares to go all over the country. Our company went to Baja, San Diego, Utah, AZ, LA, and SF, in the first 48 hours. I actually had a cleint stuck in Nashville,TN , so I drove a Superstretch across country to pick him up: Snipers and bomb dogs on the Hoover Dam.(we got pulled out of the car and searched) American Flags flying from every car and truck. Everybody we encountered was beyond friendly. They all had that look, you know. Like all the prejudice and preconcieved notions we have about our own citizens didn't matter any more. Like we were in some shit and everybody knew it. Like we all had each others back no matter what. You know how black guys give each other that "whats up?" , head nod, whether they know each other or not? It was like that, all the way to Nashville. Flags at half mass. Office buildings with the lights left on in the shape of a cross. New Years eve that year was even more erie. Real military helicopter gun ships circling the Las Vegas strip. (3) FBI trailers w/bomb sniffing dogs behind the major casinos. Armed National Guard at the intersections, and walking the strip. Vehicle checks at all the hotels, dogs, mirrors. (they still do that at some) And then to find out, some of the punk ass cowardly bombers were actually identified at Olympic Gardens ( a local strip club) Days before the bombing. Really scary. Im not bagging on anyones religion, but, If you are supposed to get 12 or 30 or however many virgins in their fucked up version of Klingon heaven, what could they possibly look like? I mean if there are that many virgins left over the age if 15, they have to still virgins for a reason, right? Who wants 13 ugly, fat virgins. I'll bet they were pissed when they got to hell. |
I was living in NYC at the time all that went down. Within 2 weeks, we packed up our apartment and my ex and I moved to Rochester, NY where the rest of my family lives. Been back here ever since.

I was in Corfu with 8 friends. Just got home from the beach when I noticed that everybody was staring at the tv's in all the bars.
