Can't wait to see the looks on people's faces that get stuck with a stack of them.

That will never happen. I'll bet any Sony employer or employee $50,000 :)

I am going to try to snag a couple american versions tonight, i'll see what I can do. But the Japs are in by Wednesday and there is no difference really other than the instructions from what I know. All systems are multilanguage settings

I'd rather have the Japanese version than the U.S. version. It will play both U.S. and Japanese PS3 games and blu-ray movies, plus Japanese PS2 and PS1 games. It will not play U.S. PS2 or PS1 games, but I have a PS2 for that. Would be cool to be able to play PS2+PSX imports without an adaptor.

Even if that happened, they'd all be purchased by dealers in a matter of seconds and be back on Ebay for $3,000 within a couple hours. There's no way to stop people from selling these for a profit. Yes, a few of them might end up in collector's hands if Sony did that, but not many.

Yeah, same here, our Wal-Mart got 6 to. We live in a 2 college town and it shows becuase last night at 7pm I drove up to see what the line looked like and there was already 5 college kids up there. I hear that they're supposed to raincheck 4 more because in a ad flyer it stated each store would get 10.

An article regarding the Japanese PS3's...

Now that Japanese online auction sites have been flooded with PlayStation 3s, it appears that the laws of supply and demand have been called into duty. Of course, supply for the PlayStation 3 is still at an all-time high, but with a much greater pool of product to bid on, auction prices have dropped dramatically since launch day in Japan.

Thousands of PS3 consoles have hit Yahoo! Japan auctions, with some smart bidders grabbing machines for near-retail prices. The Associated Press reports that, "some had game software thrown in with the machine, selling near the retail price of about 60,000 yen (US$510; €400) for the more expensive model with a 60-gigabyte hard drive, and 50,000 yen (US$420; €330) for the cheaper model."

So if you want a cheaper alternative hit the Japanese sites...

From my understanding they are selling for more in Japan than they are selling for in the USA. (Japanese versions)
