Massive Gambling Bust In The US: MLB Scout + 2 Dozen Others Indicted

Quote:
More than two dozen people, including a professional baseball scout and a high-stakes poker player, were charged Wednesday in connection with a billion-dollar-a-year gambling ring that rivaled casino sports books.

The illegal betting scheme was orchestrated through a Web site called Playwithal.com, run by the poker player, James Giordano, 52, of Pine Crest, Fla., according to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

A break in the case came last year when investigators secretly hacked into a laptop computer that Giordano had left in a Long Island hotel while attending a wedding, police said. He was arrested early Wednesday by FBI agents who had to scale the walls of his fortess-like Florida compound.

Giordano's little problem is that he has already been indicted and a judge here would prob listen to an extradition application for eg, a US citizen who was "on the run". If he was operating from here - that's an entirely different story and not against local laws.

BTW.. Remember the BetOnSports "problem"? They have David in Texas, but still never issued an extradition application for Gary Kaplan and the US folks who were operating here - simply because they were not in violation of any local laws and a judge is not going to listen to an application for extradition.

But... all these minor technicalities never stopped folks running before

That is, until he tripled the judge's salary with 3 of these:
