Should the age for adult models be raised from 18 to 21?

I keep seeing industry "activists" suggesting in news articles that the minimum age for models should be raised from 18 to 21. Seems like every time the media interviews someone from our industry, I see this issue come up.

What's everyone think?

I dont quite get that dilemma; here in Quebec the drinking age is 18 and always been, as well as the legal age to perform in the adult industry. Give me the explanation why in the US it is told that ppl need to be 21 to drink and go to bars instead of 18 and I will speak my opinion.

For now all I think is weird is that they wont let 18 years old have a beer, but they certainly will send them in the army to get killed. Go figure.

Maybe they think an 18 years old isnt mature enough to know what they're doing and might reconsider at 21? Besides, if they suddenly change the legal age for adult biz, what's gonna happen to all the models that are under 21 that appears online? Well speaking personally, I think it would be a decent idea frankly. You know some people dont distinguish between "teen (18 and 19)" and "young teen", which is nothing but bad.

You can vote here at 18, but cant drink until you're 21. There is talk now of raising the age at which you can buy tobacco products from 18 to 19, so there is less smoking on high-school grounds. Mainly the local govnt. thinks it will cut down on 18 yr old seniors distributing smokes to younger kids.

Anyway, not a bad idea, but it'll never happen legally, so shooters would have to do it manually.

Then there are back issues of magazines like Playboy to name one of millions. Then the general fashion industry might have to change and they're too powerful to let that happen.

Here in Europe everything goes when you are 18, you are allowed to drink, drive and become an adult.
Besides in Africa they get children at the age of 13 and many many many many many, so many of these teens are doing it at the age of 15 or even younger. 18 seems a normal age, don't see a problem, some of them get married or already have a child at that age so why shouldn't they be able to pose or become a sologirl etc...?

Drinking, driving, smoking, voting, military service, signing contracts, getting married, having children, nude modeling.... All those should be done only by ADULTS. But being an adult is more about maturity, responsibility and accountability than AGE. Hell, I'm 40 and I'm not an adult at times.

There should be a test to pass, not a birthday to reach. Rights, responsibilities, and privileges of adulthood should be earned, not given.
