To Be Fair to Zango/AFF/Cams
I am curious:
1) Does AFF/Cams pop over their own url? 2) Have the top affiliates of AFF/Cams seen a decrease in sales/conversions? I am wondering how much difference (outside of ethical concerns) that zango is making in terms of affiliates sales/conversions...? |

1. Yes, but they usually send aff.com -> cams.com and vice versa. Thats their way of trying to say we are not targeting our AFF affiliates by poping up an AFF ad over yours. They just send it to Cams.com where they make the money and you make none. This happens to all the urls regardless if it is an affiliate sending traffic with an affiliate url or adultfriendfinder.com type in traffic. 2. The most I think zango would be causing them to lose would be 5% roughly, some more (possibly a lot more) some less. For example if you get 100% of your sales from p2p I bet you lose a lot more then 5% of your sales because a lot of people using p2p have been infected. If someone loses 5% over time its not going to stick out. A lot of people make excuses, blame it on the time of the year, saturation with that sponsor, gas prices, whatever. I don't know if many of them blame or even realize that they are losing a substantual amount of money because of zango. If you make 5K a week, and you lose 5% that is 13,000 a year. There is no need " to be fair to zango/aff " if someone says we havent noticed a decrease in our signups do you think that means that zango is not costing us money in loss of sales ????? They made 50million in 2004, thats a lot of zango pages poping up at 2 - 3 cents a pop up. I would bet everyone of these sponsors who bought all those zango popups made more then they spent with Zango. That is millions in sales that would have been made by affiliates if not for zango. " to be fair "

BTW, if it was purely an "ethical" thing, like for example pimpdog calling people pedo's and rapist, etc... I would just ignore the issue. The ONLY reason I am fired up about this is because it is money coming out of my pocket. With the volume I do in sales, even if it is 1% I am losing, it is still $10,000 a year or more I am losing. Which is more then enough for me to get bent out of shape over. And when you take money out of my pocket by stealing my fucking traffic i think that makes it more then an " ethical issues" no matter what the fucking law wants to call it.

The session means shit man if they pop an ad over it, all that means is if the surfer closed the zango ad you would get credit. You don't get credit from the Zango window.

I dont know how AFF's tracking works, but any NATS sponsors, ccbill, etc - the person who popped the Zango link would get credit, as the cookie & session would get overwritten by the latest link.
99% of affiliate tracking systems work this way. AFF would definitely be the exception if that is the case.
