I thought i was the only one. I reacted RIGHT AWAY as soon as i started receving bounced emails. I immedialty figured out what it was contacted everyone (hosting,registrars) about it. I then nuked the email address and contacted megarotenshit about it.

I see the spamed site site has a "rewards" program that pays cash for downloads so someone probably signed up and thought they could make some money. Their spammed links all appear to have since been deactivated.

same here, 1000+ bounced e-mails ( 2 accounts ) but guess what, indeed both I use/used to sign-up with sponsors.

Install boxtrapper as one of your spam guards on your server, then the user has to confirm his/her email.
If you don't want to do that you can forward all your mail to a gmail account and let google servers handle the spam, they got some killer spam filters in place and you can use their pop3 to download your mail to your outlook, if your still getting spam install cloudmark in your outlook too, with all those filters you going to get close zero spam a week |

on a different but similar note, for the past week i have been getting about 50 emails a day to both porn and non porn email addies that quote a fake email I supposedly sent but it's just a quoted reply, they don't say anything prior to the quote.

there was a thread about this earlier i responded to - my first worry was I had some kind of virus, but looks like you guys are getting the same shit too.
funny you say that thing about sponsor emails, cuz the address getting spammed is something used to sign up to sponsors for me too (and the odd bit of mainstream stuff) it's not out there on the web.. hmmm... |

Nuke the email THAT'S IT THAT'S ALL !
Or put it back just to change your sponsor emails or whatever needs to be changed. Then kill it again. If you ever need it for something you forgot, set it up again, do your shit, nuke it ! Takes only a couple of secs to do. That's what i'm doing right now 2cents |
