You know you are old when....
I'm just reminiscing.....
My first net surfing experience was about 16 years ago. Living in Nth Queensland in Australia, internet access had become "affordable" to me and I quickly developed a $300 month access bill with Ozemail. There was not a lot to see, and I was green. (Knowing now that all those domain names were sitting there waiting to be registered). I did the first thing any male would, and it didn't take long until a found a site called the The Hun. Looking similar to how it does now, though surfers submitted links they had found to site back doors, ect. I remember submitting a page to The Hun I had made on Angelfire, that had links to unprotected index's of images. It was of course listed and I watched the counter tick over all the way to about 2000. That was fun, though I ended up drifting away from the net. To expensive and not much interested me. 10 years later, I thought I would see what was happening with the porn industry and spent time researching on how to do it myself. A short time later I got a "gallery" listed on The Hun (new, improved and with morels). I didn't know it was listed until I checked one morning just before I left for work. I shit myself, I had sold about US$700 in AVS memberships. Now the Aussie dollar was at about 50c then, so that was $1400 to me. I got my girlfriend out of bed and asked her to follow me to work so I could drop off my company car and tell em to stick their job! She was behind me 100% (hence we are still together). I worked hard and got my recurring membership base up to about 300 and $2000-$4000 a week in income. What a great two years. I stalked the other boards, though rarely posted as I preferred to spend my time a little more productive. Anyway, I then sold off my sites and took a new direction. It was about the time that GFY started, that I got out. Well I'm back! I have some reservations, but feel there is still $$ to be made. So its back to stalking the forums! Its a great industry and I hope you are all doing well! Cheers, Mark |
