[DRAMA] Idealbandwidth/OrangeFiber/Alphared way to go

Since this week I get tons of complaints that customers which has servers at our place cant reach any of the companies above and the other way around. When I looked into this I couldnt indeed connect to any of the ips of Idealbandwidth/OrangeFiber/Alphared from our side and from servers of which I have the login details I couldnt reach any of the AdultEUhost ip-addresses.

In the past year we moved tons of customers away from Idealbandwidth/OrangeFiber/Alphared to us and last week (just before the blocking started) we moved a 200 Mbps customer again from them to us. Ofcourse that should not matter but just to give you a clue of why they blocked us.

Customers contacted Idealbandwidth/OrangeFiber/Alphared support and got responses like:

"We will not allow that hosting company to disrupt our network"

"...The reason that it is not connecting to the db is that there is a block in place on the IP range owned by AdultEUhost due to unethical actions by resellers that negatively effecting our network...."

Mmm that is interessting

So I contacted their support which wasnt very helpfull either, see the icq log below. In the end he told me to call their network engineer, so I did. In the conversation I was told Idealbandwidth/OrangeFiber/Alphared would never block ips. At the end it was like oohhh you are from AdultEUhost, yeah we blocked you for spamming extremepaychecks. I had to contact James the company CEO about this and send an email. To my response emailing was impossible since our mailservers are blocked too the solution was we had to use hotmail then or so.

The other guy in the converence call probably noticed we were not a customer and probably wasting their time. He asked if we were a customer at all, as the anwser is no ofcourse it resulted in the fact I got hangup directly.

It seems pretty obvious that it isnt because of some spamming otherwise why should I contact the CEO for that?

The fact you start blocking other ISPs after they move customers away from you is absolutely not the way to act. It will have direct negative consequences for the Internet and customers of Idealbandwidth/OrangeFiber/Alphared and ofcourse ours.

In case there was a problem with spamming it is very common to contact the other ISP to make it stop instead of just blocking the entire ISP. We have a 24/7 NOC, all abuse contact details are listed in RIPE and on the websites. And ofcourse it also doesnt make any sense at all to block all IPs instead of just blocking the IPs in this matter.

I will never go public with anything about any other ISP or talk bad about someone but this is just ridiculous. Idealbandwidth/OrangeFiber/Alphared act as a ISP and take care of your customers instead of blocking each ISP they possibly might move to.

AdultEUhost - Leon (07:11 PM) :
Hello
AlphaTech01 (07:11 PM) :
hi
AlphaTech01 (07:11 PM) :
how can i help you?
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:11 PM) :
I have a question
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:14 PM) :
I have tons of complaints from customers of us that all connectivity between AdultEUhost and Alphared is blocked. I have looked into it and it is indeed the case.
First question: why is this done?
Second question: what do you want to accomplish wit this?
Third question: don't you think this is a fuck upped way to do business?

No i have asked one of the customers to contact your support and he got this response:
"We will not allow that hosting company to disrupt our network"

So that makes me wondering what we did then besides moving customers from your company to ours
AlphaTech01 (07:15 PM) :
go ahread
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:16 PM) :
Well it would be nice if you can comment on my three questions
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:16 PM) :
as this is ofcourse not the correct thing to do
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:16 PM) :
besides the fact you obvisiously want to block me you are also creating problems for your current customers
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:22 PM) :
do i was wondering what is happening over there and why you blocked all of our IPs
AlphaTech01 (07:23 PM) :
we don't have any report that your IPs has been blocked
AlphaTech01 (07:23 PM) :
do you have evidences sir?
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:24 PM) :
ofcourse otherwise I wouldnt ask you, I just logged in to a server of a customer of yours and tried to ping ips from several ranges of us, all IPs dont work
AlphaTech01 (07:24 PM) :
can you give me a sample IP please?
AlphaTech01 (07:24 PM) :
so we can test it from here
AlphaTech01 (07:24 PM) :
or
AlphaTech01 (07:25 PM) :
send an email to [email protected]
AlphaTech01 (07:25 PM) :
so we can forward it to our network admin
AlphaTech01 (07:25 PM) :
who is doing work on the network at the moment
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:25 PM) :
And my customer got replies from your company:

"We will not allow that hosting company to disrupt our network"

Dear Client,

This should be working now. The reason that it is not connecting to the db is that there is a block in place on the IP range owned by interxs.nl (pornhentai.com [194.126.193.21] is at interxs.nl) due to unethical actions by resellers that negatively effecting our network. We have made some adjustments for this IP to be able to connect to server1325. We have logged in to the st admin page of pornhentai.com and it is now able to connect to the db.

AdultEUhost - Leon (07:26 PM) :
try to ping www.adulteuhost.com for example
AlphaTech01 (07:26 PM) :
okay so that is with regards to that particular problem
AlphaTech01 (07:26 PM) :
it was explained on that mail correspondence already
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:27 PM) :
yes but why did you blocked all of our ips then?
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:27 PM) :
because from all servers at your datacenter of which i have login info i cant ping our ips
AlphaTech01 (07:27 PM) :
you need to ask it directly to our network admin as he is the one authorizing/implementing IP blocking
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:27 PM) :
and how can we reach him?
AlphaTech01 (07:28 PM) :
[email protected]
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:28 PM) :
ok i will contact him then
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:31 PM) :
mail will probably not be received at your side as our ips are blocked (also mailservers !)
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:31 PM) :
so what to do then?
AlphaTech01 (07:31 PM) :
maybe you can call
AlphaTech01 (07:31 PM) :
?
AlphaTech01 (07:32 PM) :
the DC directly?
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:32 PM) :
if you can give me a number that would help
AlphaTech01 (07:32 PM) :
713 739 0415 ext 2
AdultEUhost - Leon (07:32 PM) :
and which person is in charge of this? so I know who i need to speak to

We noticed that a lot more customers have problems which host their galleries with us and submit to mgps hosted by idealbw.

The only way to get this probably get fixed soon is to go public with this, therefore this post.

PS> this morning we started moving another customer from idealbw, he probably also cancelled his 3 servers with them. So idealbw the blocking doesnt help at all.

So they blocked the ips in order to make it difficult for their old customers to transfer to you? That the jist ? Pretty low if its true.

As you know Leon, I noticed last week that i couldn't submit to sites using AGP scripts and I thought it was something to do with the script itself. This makes much more sense now however.

And after talking to other people hosted with you they can't submit to sites using AGP and hosting at on this network either. This is a huge pain in the ass.

Ross, I'm a little slow this morning, lol, but I don't quite understand how AGP would come into play? Or are you referring only to AGP based sites hosted on Ideal?

Well I noticed I couldn't submit to some sites anymore and they were all sites using AGP so I thought something was wrong with the script or something.... But after talking with Leon and some others it now seems this is the real reason. All sites I can't submit to are hosted with the afore mention companies...

I also spoke to someone from the companies mentioned and they have their reasons for doing this and are gonna be posting in here. I'm hosted on Adult EU Host now and the only thing I care about is being able to post to those sites again.

AlpahRed have been a solid provider for me and I have never had issues in the past.

Ross, I had a similar issue. This may be because you are still in your last hosts dns . Ask them to remove the domains you are submitting from their records. Should solve that issue.

For the record Alphared, James, Matt and his whole team are excellent people. I know them well now and I like them. I'm not laying blame to anyone for this, just annoyed that I can't submit to some sites where I've either got partner accounts on or pay to get listed.

that wont work as they blocked all IPs which are originated to our ASN 30913 which mail our entire network is unreachable from their network

For example if someone submit his gallery hosted with us on a mgp with idealbw the gallery tool like Smart Thumbs, AGP, Comus, Brownie or whatever will verify the gallery. As it cant reach it it will mark the gallery as broken and thus not list it

AdultEUHost Drama Response:

The AdultEUHost network was automatically blocked on Thursday of last week by our routers when they detected an extended attack from multiple sources within the ASN, and port sniffing of our network.
We did notice this block, and due to the intentsity and specific nature of the port sniffing and packet attack, we hadn't unblocked them.

"AdultEUHost Leon"'s posts have only further strengthed our resolve to maintain the block of AdultEUHost's network and ASN.

His allegations are completely unfounded - the network AdultEUHost resides on was initially blocked for attacking servers on our network, and causing them to crash, then contacting those clients and offering them "better" deal's on their network with the promise that they wouldn't "crash". The consequences of those actions are now being felt by their customers.

We would never block a network that was passing legitmate traffic to our network regardless if they were competitors or not. We have not blocked any of our other competitor's, and that should speak massively to our credibility.

Our network security/IDS system automatically blocked the network based on a pre-set base of rules that allows us to maintain a stable, and relatively attack free network to protect our customers from these sort's of internet "nuisances".

We feel sympathy for those hosted on the AdultEUHost network, and wish this wouldn't have happened, but at this time we have no intentions of unblocking the ASN.

Further more, we believe AdultEUHosts' intentions are very suspicious, initially with the attack, and now with these posts.

If Leon wishes to speak with us, he can send us an email via an email address not hosted on the adulteuhost network, and we shall look it over.

You guys do realise that its nothing to do with us hosting on Adult EU Host and we're all just trying to make money. I can't submit to some sites where I have paid to be listed on because of this... I'm sure submitpasses.com as well as the site owners are gonna be very pissed with this situation.

By not unblocking it you will be causing a lot of hassle for the site owners on your network.

By not unblocking it you will be causing a lot of hassle for the site owners on your network.

It has nothing to do with you being hosted on their network, it has to do with AdultEUHosts originating attacks FROM the network YOU are hosted on.

If you cannot submit to sites because the network YOU are HOSTED on, has created a disturbance and been blocked due to ABUSE, then that is something you should take up with AdultEUHost.

I understand all this. I've read it and heard it from other people.

What you need to understand is this:

1. Submitters from all networks submit to sites on your network and pay to submit there.
2. Being on Adult EU Host wether or not they did anything wrong shouldn't be my problem. I paid to submit to sites on your hosting, I should be able to submit.
3. There's a lot of people affected by this, there's a lot of submit passes involved in it and there's gonna be a lot of hassle.

I understand where you are coming from, but it still affects your customers and Adult EU Hosts customers.

1. OK, I understand this - only the people hosted on AdultEUHost are affected.
2. It IS your problem, it is YOUR choice to host with a provider that attacks and abuses servers of their competitors. You have full control over who you choose for hosting.
3. The only people being affected by this, are those who have servers or sites they have located at AdultEUHost.

At the current time, if there are any of OUR customers being affected by this, we can fix this on a case by case basis, and can do so by emailing me michael [@[] alphared.com
Anyone hosted with AdultEUHost will have to wait until Leon makes amends with us that are acceptable.

First of all before blocking an entire network it looks quite common to me to contact the ISP in this matter to find out what and how this is happening?

Secondly I have tried in different ways (ICQ, Phone and Email) to get in contact with your company so has several customers of us.

I have no problem with company what so ever but this is just unacceptable.
It is obvious now that you have no intentions to solve this problem which drives me to the question that now we are in contact we cant solve this like adults.

This needs to get sorted out. I've got no idea whose fault it really is but it makes no sense to punish big clients, however inadvertent it is.

This is costing me and Ross and many other like us ALOT of money.

Not everyone in our company has the full story, only the relevant people know the issue ... you are speaking to the wrong people.

We have not received any emails from you, and I have not received any phone calls from you either.
I don't know who's ICQ you are IMing, but its obviously not one of us ... a support tech will not be able to speak with you regarding this issue.
I have listed my email address for you to contact me.

How do we have no intentions to solve this problem? How many times have I said to contact us, and listed the method of doing so?

You obviously cannot send an email from inside your network as it is blocked, send it from a yahoo or gmail account.

I have now a lot of large websites and was considering Orangefibre, but they have been scratched from the potential list. Who would want to take the fucking risk. Don't you guys realise that once these problems hit the forums, you loose massive amounts of business and goodwill.

If sounds like orange fibre doesn't give a fuck because the problem is now with someone else.

We are not a small player, we have thousands of servers, and have over 29,000megabits of bandwidth in use, with a capacity upgrade to 40,000Megabits within this month.
We have to look at the big picture, and protect all our clients - if one network is behaving badly, it is blocked until a time when a resolution can come to pass.

The internet service provider that AdultEUHost resells for, InterXS.nl has contacted us as well, as their internet clients (residential) are not able to reach the sites on our network (and thats a lot of sites), so they are suffering from the abuse on their side as well.

First of all, dont start when you are not aware of things.

Besides that we were not the party who decided to start blocking traffic as we will never do without at least contacting the other company.

29 Gbit/s in use on a 31 Gbit/s network and you call that top-notch?
