i post on boards to be update with information.... and everything that comes with that i don;t count it....

I'm far too cool to sell my sig...unless pie has an affiliate program that I wasn't informed of. I've never sold my sig and probably never will...unless someone makes me one great fucking offer.

i have pulled plenty of biz from this board but most people i do biz with dont spend much time on the boards.

Paul Markham 11-01-2006 12:13 AM

Iv think it depends on the poster and what he has to offer.

Many here are surfers with little, I should code the link to the paysite and prove that theory.

Many are people submitting galleries and living on the edge.

Some are true business men like yourself JStyles$.

But I think over the last year to 18 months the boards have become less relevant.

Just look at the spams for affiliates going on, looks a bit desperate to me for some of them. I know we got little from our meagre try.

Yes, of course GFY has helped my businesses ( the only board i actually post on now ) but i would'nt say " contributed greatly..." but alot yes... actually we only have small banners on gfy never big ones, i post mostly for fun here to hang with my friends , clients, etc.....we bring majority of our business in other ways of marketing...

Everybody posts for different reasons.

Some people post to blow off steam in between taking care of biz.

Some post to get their name out and sell their affiliate program, content or services.

Can you really account for how posting affects your bottom line positively or negatively?

east coast in tha house!

player you know the board make the right people money - like everything else in life it just takes time to weed through the bullshit.

and i will say this - because of you and KB and a few posts i made in a thread where you guys were going at it a few yrs back, a diologue developed between you and i as well as KB and THAT opened up other avenues which lead to business.

For the first time in 10+ years I started carrying a sig at the beginning of September to push my tutorial site. I was up to a few hundred visitors daily within a couple of weeks, so it was effective, but actually GFY was the least productive board.

I can only guess why - a combination of the speed at which threads scroll away and a high percentage of non-webmaster traffic - and I could be way off the mark. Ironically, because it has the most restrictive sig rules, GG&J has generated the most visitors and I suppose that reflects their visitor profile.

The spread of actual business from people saying "I saw your sig on..." and spending money has been more evenly spread, but that still suggests the raw numbers on GFY may be misleading for all but the truly dedicated sig-whores.
