How do you disable the seatbelt alarm on a new car?

Anyone know how to disable the seatbelt alarm in a new car.
I just got a new Chrysler 300 the other day and the damn seatbelt alarm goes off if your not wearing it.

Varies per car of course... On my last car I just started it up and let the thing beep away, and felt around under the dash until I could tell where the buzzing was come from... It was just a pair of wires plugged into the speaker, and very easy to just pull out.

If you're really desperate you can just unbolt your seatbelt clip, cut the wires there, and cross them.

That's not the point... the alarm is fucking annoying if you spend a lot of time in your car. I would never drive without a seatbelt yet always disable the alarm in every car I own. Waiting in something like a ferry line I like to take it off, or when working on my car I have the keys in and the stereo on and stuff... It's just fucking annoying, I don't need a high pitched beeper telling me to put my seatbelt on.

haha the suggestions some of you guys are making are crazy. cutting wires? the set beat beeping is programmed into the cars computer system just take it to a dealer they'll hook it up to a laptop and disable the beeping for you. you can also as them for a print out of all the other preset options you can turn on and off.

seatbelt = modern day darwinism. not smart enough to wear a seatbelt, hopefully not smart enough to breed.

You better get that disabled right away. I mean you wouldn't want that annoying alarm to distract you and cause an accident while driving without a seatbelt.

that only depends on the car, and i dont know any dealer that would turn off a safety system for you. too much liability

Oh it's the Chrysler 300? Nope, no good. If you try to disable the seatbelt preset by messing with the wiring it automatically delivers you a mild but convincing shock.

                        I wouldn't chance it.

its not turning off the seatbeat system its just turning off the audio alert. pretty much all cars with computers have preset features that can be turned on or off. another example would be the auto door lock when your car gets up to 10mph another on/off feature. the seat belt light on the dash will still be there though.

i do suggest wearing your seatbelt cause if you get in an accident the car will record your spend, and if your belt was on. pretty much all mid to high end cars do that now. just in case you try to sue the car company

the door option is an option, but im pretty sure that the seatbelt warning is mandatory. also on most cars now they use the belt catch to tell if someone is in the seat. obviously if the car is moving there is someone in the driver seat, but the air bags react differently if they are or are not wearing their seat belt. they also use the passenger seat belt catch to tell if someone is there to arm the passenger air bag too.

Yup that's what my aunt did. Well, actually when she bought her new volvo she demanded they give her an extra 'head of the belt' with the car as the dealer said there was no way to disable the alarm. lol.

I think US laws prevent the dealer from disabling that feature.

Just take it to the dealer and they will turn it off.
