ShowOnFrontPage allows you to keep select posts from showing on front page of Wordpress.

In case that plugin page is still down, there are a few options. The first is to put posts you do not want to show on the main page into their own category and wrap this code around "The Loop"on the main page (this example assumes you have used category id #3 for the posts you want to exclude):
Code:
<?php if (in_category('3') && is_home() ) continue; ?>

...the rest of The Loop

<?php endif; ?>
That is the easiest way, but the snag is that the counter will include the skipped posts, so if you intend to show 10 posts and 5 get hidden, only 5 will display. This alternative again excludes category #3 and you place this code ahead of The Loop:
Code:
<?php
   if (is_home()) {
      query_posts("cat=-3");
   }
?>
If you want to exclude more than one category then you have to come at it from a different direction, by including all the categories you don't want to exclude. Again this code goes ahead of The Loop.
Code:
<?php
   if (is_home()) {
      query_posts('cat=1,2,5,6,');
   }
?>
Just remember, if you add new categories later, to add them to the list, or they will not display.
