Actually I have. Last year.

Im not a big Moby fan, but girlfriend is.

I was suprised that he had an actual band backing him. I expected one lone dork and one keyboard.

Long show, I was suprised how many songs I actually knew.

It was a good show.

And I think he encored like 4 times.

Nobody in the USA. Passing fad.

Eurofags will always dig the techno.

USA loves rock stars, and one guy on stage playing 35 minute remixes of some bad trance isnt going to cut it.

Our attention spans arent long enough for soccer and techno.

You can keep them.

Wouldn't say so... while my trip to Pittsburgh I had the pleasure of meeting some of the fines DJs in the US... although many wouldn't consider Breakbeats and Jungle as techno music it definitively is... btw, I've seen you're from Detroit! The mainstream ppl here probably listen to trance and progressive sounds but there's also a fairly large extent that listens to Detroit and Acid sound... maybe you've heard of Jeff Mills? One of the finest in the business... seeing him spinning the records you'd say DJing maximum demand sport...

You are a funny dude Labret! I never expected that to come from someone from Detroit (Carl Cox-land!)

That's true about our attention spans being too short for that stuff which is why Techno records never sell more than the worst rap records. Moby had to get smart and start making SONGS with real hooks & singing in order to sell millions of records. The car commercials helped too. The only audience for techno over here are gay people and young club kids. Gay people have always claimed the upbeat stuff for their own here. The kids... well, the kids get so fucked up on stuff that you could put a sequenced beat behind polka and they will dance.

And to be totally honest, I know Moby and I can tell you guys he is a true elitist asshole. Really geeky dude that is so nerdy that no one really let him hang out with them until he got really hot. Since he has been an in demand DJ he has made that special brand of geekiness into an image and people are buying into that shit. In reality he is only the grown up version of that bitter nerd in the band.

I saw Moby last summer as well... I can honestly say I've never seen a more "Rock Star" show in my life. He played a 15 minute hair rock guitar solo that would have made Eddie Van Halen shit his pants. There we're even pyrotechnics and shit. Not at all what I was expecting but a pleasant surprise.
