Country is a pure music. I can only listen to so much rock pop r & b stuff. Anything else gives me a headache after awhile.
Country is pop/rock/r&b now. That being said, I was raised on Willy, Buck Owens, Grandpa Jones, Chet Atkins, Hank & Dolly. That's country. Not the garbage that plays on the radio these days. I can listen to about 4 seconds worth of Reba before I throw up in my mouth.
It seems modern country is basically just pop music in Wranglers. They get someone with decent vocal ability and good looks then hire producers and songwriters to write them hits. It's all packaged. Pop sells you sex, country sells you sentimentality.
the other day someone said to me, "I like new country it's kind of up beat and rock n roll."
I replied, "Yeah I liked it the first time when they called it The Eagles."
That said i love Cash and Willie and some of the older stuff.
Love it. Mainly just Dolly, as I haven't been searching for country that actively. Just loved what I've heard so far. If you want to enjoy country music in my country you really need to look for it - unfortunately they don't play it on the radio.
Hate Reba though, but only because her TV show sucked.
