photoshop question for you designer folk...

hey kids, i've a small problem....

am in the end stages of building a cd cover
for a local artist here in austin, its coming
along fine, in fact is 99% complete...I have
one problem though.

if you look at a music CD, you'll notice, in most cases, print around the outside edge of
said CD. Now, does anyone know how
to conform text to a circular path in photoshop? or do i have to fire up illustrator and build the text there, export as eps, then
import into PS?

sure i could do it by hand, but that, methinks, would take a loooong time.

am using ps7 under osx, and ps 5.5 under windows....

thx!

t

There is a warp text tool, right next to the alignment options on the font bar. Thats in PS6 though.

Get a designer to do it then man.

Do you do your own plumbing?

I dont.

its an idea....but a pain in the ass, considering this is a work for free favor... just talked
to the client, he's not sure he wants
it all the way around the cd, so i can
get away with a 30 degree sweep.

I'm not the guru but I thought I remember simply bending text along a path?

so you would make some kind of circular where you want it and the text would wrap around it, I don't think you want to use the warp tool.

search in the help area of PS for text and you might find something.

What up!

Met up with the same problem last week when making some t-shirt graphics. To my knowledge PS doesn't include a feature to do circulair text paths. Adobe wants you to go out and buy Illustrator for that! It could be done in PS by setting up grids and angles but it's far to much trouble if you have Illustrator handy. Fire it up.... build your circulair text....then export as .ai and slap that shit into PS. That should get you there, if not let me know.

When all else fails, use Corel Draw 10!

heyllo,

new member here...hello to all.

click on the text tool, then look on the right side of the menu bar next to the color rectangle. it's a "T" with an arch underneath it. click this button, then press style-arc. You will then be able to adjust the amount of the arc that you need for your job. if you need to do a full circle, then i would suggest breaking the text up into smaller sections and then working it in sections.
