Was the design of the peace sign influenced by the Mercedes-Benz symbol? They're similar.

Dont know about the mercedes, but I know the BMW is "White propellers in the blue sky" (They made airplane engines first)

Mercedes-Benz existed before the peace sign, so I don't think it was designed based on that.

Peace sign origin:
