Leather seats in cars... RANT

Here is what I wonder, WHY is it that leather seats are "better" than regular seats?

Leather seats are hotter than regular seats in the summer because of the sun, makes it uncomfortable.

Leather seats are colder than regular seats in the winter because of the cold outside, makes you stay cold longer, and is uncomfortable.

Leather seats are much stiffer than regular seats, makes it uncumfortable.

Leather seats crack and maintain more maintenance than regular seats.

So WHY is it that leather seats are "so much better" than regular seats? why do people pay a premium for them?

could is simply be because car companies make alot more profit on them, therefore they equip all the expensive ones with leather seats to make people below the chain desire them more?

please enlighten me here!

I think leather seats in cars is redundant...they are only seats in a car

Easier to clean for sure. Other than that I don't see a benefit. One of the BMWs I picked up is getting some nice cloth seats, they were leather!

I dont like them either. And if you dont eat in your car, no need to worry about cleaning them. And cloth seats are pretty resitant to stains and shit these days, that is, of course, assuming you clean your car once in a while.

I prefer leather seats as I find them less irritating on the skin than cloth. To each his own.

Leather seats are over rated. The are hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Period. More or less they suck.

My car has leather seats with cloth in the middle. I can live with those.

Daily.

I was actually referring more to arm contact. Also depending on what clothes you're wearing at the time, the material reacts in different ways to cloth and leather, I also sweat like a whore when driving.

They look better, they're easier to clean and if you treat them properly, they're much tougher and will last longer without ripping.

Average leather seats aren't that desirable. but top of the line leather seats are much better than cloth. 3 series bmw, mustangs, lincoln LHS seats aren't great in leather, but a 5 series bmw and up are awesome inleather. at least that's my opinion.

They cost more.. and everybody knows things that cost more are automatically better..

I like both for their own reasons. But with that said I have owned more cars with leather. Top of the line cars just kinda have them so that's what you get..

Like others have said, properly maintained, quality leather seats look good, are durable, are heated and cooled in the right car and are easy to clean.

We are a weird society... having the hyde of a corpse is a "premium" feature.

eh, I dunno...

Why would leather couches in your house be stupid? I prefer them over cloth and all my couches are leather. I bought some home theater seating a couple years ago and the cloth ones they had looked like shit.

I do have one wall that is completely windows, but I don't see what difference that makes on what couches you have.

Not really. In general, houses pretty much maintain more or less the same temperature all year long. It will get hot, if it's exposed to the sun, but so do cloth sofas

i dont really have a pref but i did buy a Jeep Commander recently and it has cloth seats in it and to tell you the truth I like the cloth. The last two suvs I have had have had leather and heated seats and the cloth is just as nice to me. However I dont let drinks in my car so I hope that helps with the spill part and no pets!
