Granite is pourus. Overtime it can get nasty in the tiny crevises. Bacteria and what not. Go for a non-pourus corian or whatever that shit is.

Oh wait.. you're from texas? Just use Formica.

You do not think I am serious do you?

Look it up.

PS if you must go granite, check for scraps at the yard. they often have plenty to do a few small counters where you do not need a full sheet. It is much cheaper too.

It really is the In thing, she can ask around.
Even in high dollar homes.

Its the new stainless. Something else taken from pro kitchens.

concrete countertops are sanitary and look beautiful when they're done. For the floors if you want something really lovely that's easier to keep clean but higher end than tile, some nice travertine is always a nice addition.

Travertine wears better than concrete with foottraffic, it's less pourous and easier to clean (especially if it's polished), and it brings value up far more than concrete floors.

Also look into Silestone. Stronger than granite, and non-porous. It's 75% quartz and the rest some sort of resin. Looks really cool and you don't have to treat it with anything like you are supposed to do with granite yearly.

I put it in my kitchen and bathroom and it looks great.
