I'm pretty sure that most cards are issued to you by the bank, but remain the property of the bank. They make take them from you at any time. :2 cents:

Mr. Romance

They are not destroyed.

It happened to me once, when I entered the PIN code wrong. I went to the bank office and they got my card the next day. You need to show them your ID to match with the name on the card.

thats not always possible :winkwink:

I actually own an ATM company and believe me its not easy to remove a stuck card from a machine, although it does depend on the machine.

The teller can open the machine, as it is most of their daily jobs to balance the ATM, but that depends on the bank as well. She probably wouldn't know what to do anyway.

I would just bitch and make them call a tech on the spot. There are techs in every city, and most of them have on-call contracts with banks and ATM owners. There's no reason to wait that long unless they have some sort of issue with your card.

:)

Well if you have bullshit name on your card, then there is no way to get it back.

they can open up a ATM here too, but you do have to put some pressure on it plus they want ID to show that the card belongs to you

s9ann0 10-12-2006 04:47 AM

I go talk to the teller and she says there is nothing I can do, that I have to contact my bank and get a new card.

I explain to her how it will take 2-3 weeks for me to get a new card from my offshore bank, but she keeps saying there is nothing she can do.

I thought that when ATM's kept the cards, they de-magnitized them, so getting them back after that was pretty much pointless.

Maybe they don't do that anymore. Boy, that sure would be a great scam, set up an ATM machine let them punch in the PIN, then keep the card, LOL... hmmmm brb.

:1orglaugh That boy sure is going the right way starting stupid threads about offshore and "hypothetical" crap about how to draw funds onshore without it being traced.

Just a passing thought bdjuf - (simplified version, but better that way) - there is no reason whatsoever why anyone onshore needs offshore accounts.... unless.... Forget the asset protection, reinvoicing and all the legitimate stuff - give that excuse to whatever revenue agency.

If you want to play offshore games - move offshore and legitimise your status (and don't forget the pay the taxman before you leave) - otherwise it's only a matter of time before shit hits the fan with either massive penalties or a jail term.

Phil 12-28-2006 07:55 PM

you'refucking busted.. get one way ticket to Costa Rica and run.
