Is making money in porn as easy as you thought?

If you were to give advice to someone strating out in internet Porn what would it be?

Are you happy with the money you are making now?

I tell everyone who hits me up as a newbie that anything is possible but its not as easy as people think. It takes alot of time to develope a new business and relationships nothing happens over nite.

How much you make is all relative to where you live and what makes you happy

I really think its always been tough. it took alot more money in the past since all the tools that have been developed over the years were not around and the pioneers had to build everyhting in-house. Now its easy with all the plug and play

It's easier than I expected at first... I knew there was profits to be made, but I didn't think it would grow this fast. Then again, anything is possible with hard work.

Yes, but there was no competiton or at least much less. I started with an ugly html page in 1998 and a fake story about two female students. Even that site made a large profit.

But I agree, you have to invest money and much work if youŽll get a serious business running.

Like all things, it just matters how much time and effort you're willing to put into it. Most webmasters are just lazy as shit.

Just some of the reasons most new webmasters will ever be happy with their success and eventually leave the biz...

1. Patience
2. Determination
3. Motivation
4. Computer Skills
5. Underestimating failure or learning to grow from it.

People totally don't get it, I'm not speaking specifically about porn either, just anything in general 'online'

People forget you got to treat it like a business to get paid like a business. <wow, corny saying but true>

1) Build your brand
2) Develop relationships with customers and sales force (helps if you have your own product/service)
3) Provide a good and/or unique product service

rinse and repeat...focus on 2 and 3, 1 will happen as a result of that...

My tidbits of advice.

1. Find a niche, does not matter which one but mirco can be easier yet at same time harder because the consumers often can spot fakers.
2. Hammer on that niche and do not look back or get distracted.
3. Figure out what type of traffic source you will target for that niche and work that until you have it down. Then and only then should you move onto other traffic sources. Suggestion would be a combo of galleries and free sites. The galleries may show you enough to keep you motivated, while the free sites will pay off in the long term.
4. Organize and plan. Have your sites ready to change at a moments notice. Sponsors die off or change link codes. Be prepared.
5. One plan one idea at a time. Do not loose focus and do not end up loosing interest in one project and move to another. Specially just to follow fads. If you do you will end up with tons of half assed non completed projects and fifty plus domain names.
6. Keep your word and take responsibility for all actions. Even if the news is bad or you have to tell someone you can not do something. If you make a deadline and end up thinking you will be late, tell the person the truth. Remain honest to the core.
7. Help others if you can, true often it does not get returned but it does often enough to make it more than worth your time.
8. Follow up and follow through. Do not tell someone you will get back to them and then never do.
9. Organize your day and the time you spend doing things. Small things end up eating up lots of time. There is usually no reason to check your email every 5 minutes or your sponsor stats every 30 minutes.
10. Never sell your morals.

Is making money in porn as easy as I thought?

Good question. Let me start by saying...oops excuse me, someone at the door...

brb...

Sorry...the internet payment truck just arrived with another big shipment of cash - 3rd one today. I had to move the Ferrari so that they could have room to drop off another pallet of money in the guest garage.

So, where was I?

A newbie I would tell to not quit his dayjob and give it a good long thought before he started up. That is the same thing I would probably have told him 7 or 8 years ago too.
That's about the only advice I'd give him. No reason to spill the beans to him, he'll only be a competitor and god knows, there are lots of those already. Unless, ofcourse, he's aa affiliate of my clients in which case he gets the royal treatment.

Truth be told, it's harder for newbiws to make money these days. But it wasn't really all that easy back then when.... you still had to know how. You had to know where the traffic came from, how to be able to utilize that traffic. Same as today. If you didn't/don't know, you had/have some learning to do. Answers may be easier to find today than they were then, but a lot of those answers are far more bias today and probably quite illusive. All things taken into consideration, the best advice to give a newbie today is either: "forget it" or "be ready to put some hard work and money into it". Period.

Most give up after a little while when they don't see the money come pouring in right away, totally disregarding that it is a business like anything else and not a get-righ-scheme - with one little difference that they totally ignore: that earnings will come and that profits will be made, but not overnite; it takes time and perseverance.

Actually It's a lot more easier then I thought it would be. I've been spending ots of time preparing a mainstream venture lately and I've restarted a project august 11th in porn... Right now the alexa rank of the site is 3000ish. Really easy to make money and generate money in this biz if you know where you are going and what you want.

As far as the newbie thing ... : Try to think a little bit outside the box and keep good track of the results of what you are doing.

Yes, it is. Hands off exponential income from porn. It's easy to a point I can't seem to get past 4k a month without rolling up my sleeves. How ever 4k/mo from sitting in the front of the tv and not doing anything is pretty good. Though I count checking stats as work.

Now the first two months being in this industry was a lot of work, research, design, coding.. I have 8 years experience in web and win32 application development so there isn't much overhead for me to launch something.

And a note for the newbies... once you get past the 'my site has to be amazing, best graphics, best everything' then you'll start making money. In a lot of niches the shittier the site the higher the conversion. Tested and proved time and time again.
