What LapTop do you recommend?

I'm going to buy a new laptop tommorow so I can get back to working on my sites. This one is infected with hard to get rid of spyware.

I need something that can handle a lot of software and still run like brand new.

What do you recommend

seriously though - I've had them all
various Sony Vaio's, Toshiba's, etc...

by far the best quality has been the MAC - can run both windows and mac's system - the hardware quality is 2nd to none...

Shit, I'd kill myself before I'd reformat twice a month let alone twice a week.
Why not use an OS that is not plagued with these problems?

I'm going on 2yrs since I added a second HD to my G4, have never run a virus program, have never refomatted.

Have run the Disk Utility to correct some file permissions maybe twice.
Runs 24 hrs a day and gets heavy usage.

Toshiba or Dell.

I'd also include SpySweeper in your order.

I would format a mac too, I don't like my system to get cluttered, so I usually format about once every 3 months

as pretty and nice as macs are, I don't feel like spending $3600 on something I get from a pc for $900 these days

Thanks for recomendations guys. Keep'em coming.

2 weeks of my time is more valuable than the retail price of a new laptop.

That's how much time I've spent so far trying to get rid of spyware. I rather be working something I'm good at than something I know nothing about.

I want throw this laptop away but I doubt I'll turn on anytime soon once I have my laptop.

it isn't the computer that gets cluttered by itself, it is me that clutters the computer...after a while I just forget to maintain it, and eventually I just like to format

with norton ghost I just pop the disc in and my shit is cleared and reinstalled

I actually have a g3 ibook here, but I rarely use it

I have 3 pc's here, one of them would blow most macs out of the water, I just can't justifiy starting all over again with macs because they look pretty and don't succumb to the spyware demon....if I was to switch full time to mac it would take a lot more than that, and with as proficient as I am working with a pc, and considering 99% of my business is on a pc, it would be a terrible business decision to switch because of the reasons mentioned above

well, if laptops are that disposable to you, just send the old one to me, I could format it and be up and running with a fresh computer in an hour

get a program called search and destroy, that should solve your problems

or you could just format, that will only take one hour...

Bootcamp is just the program that partitions the drive and allows you to install windows. I can boot into OSX or Windows XP Pro. Each has their own section of the drive. It's no different from running Windows on whatever setup you're posting from right now.

I understand that. I'm far from the most organized person.
But still does not get cluttered. Therfore no need to reformat

Its worth taking another look.

Sure theres a short learning curve but its not that bad.
In the end you're making excuses not to switch. You'd rather spend valuable time reformatting, virus hunting etc etc.

You know how much time I spent on those tasks this year
Not even 1 minute
Last year, answer is the same.

Are you really that proficient on a PC when you have to spend a shitload of time doing other things than running your porn empire?

Hmmm.... You don't have a restore CD that that wipes your hard-drive and restores your system to its original state.... or you can't get one? Or..... your notebook does not have a restore partition on it, that does the same thing??

Good luck. I have no recommendation for you.

for virus hunting and spyware shit I have spent maybe a couple hours, it doesn't really affect me except for once a few weeks ago

in the end it is about money for me....I think macs are overpriced..yes, they have some down in price, sure, but they are still far behind pc with the price thing

I can build a solid system on a pc by myself, starting with the case and working to the most advanced part, when is the last time you did that with a mac, choosing every single part yourself?

and like I said, i have an entire business that depends on me having a pc

btw, one part of my business that I run is pc repair

also, are you a mac salesman or something? it is like you are trying to sell ice to an eskimo here....LOL..i already have a mac dude ;)

Correction: a frustrated eskimo

I don't think you mentioned the repair biz before so, that explains a lot.

And no I'm not a salesman just a very happy and satisfied Mac User since 1992. But in a way all Mac users are salesmen.
I have no desire to build my own, theres no need to. I have better things to do

If anyone is considering a Dell XPS, check out Ebay and look for a respected seller. I bought the same laptop that I was gonna buy from Dell, on Ebay and I saved $1,000 !!!
