The myth on non exclusive being saturated.

Just had this from a webmaster on ICQ.

"paysites need unique content. its always going to be low recurring when they see content from everywhere else."

OK in narrow, micro and sub niches content is the key. If you can make enough money to keep buying in new you have a good chance of success. If you have to rely on what is around non exclusive you are going to struggle.

But in major niches the idea that a set under normal circumstances can get saturated for members is silly.

Consider how many "TEEN" sites there are on the Internet, consider how many times I would have to sell a set to make it saturated, then ask yourself why are very good exclusive shooters shooting for peanuts if it could be sold that many times non exclusive.

Or if the set would sell that many times non exclusive why don't I buy it and resell it? A solo girl scene, set and video, can be bought for $400-$500 it can be resold for $60. 10 sales and you're into a profit. 20 and you double your money, 30 and you are raking it in.

30 sales would not even be 10% of teen sites. There are more likely 3,000 teen sites out there, 30 sales is 1%.

Please use logic when arguing and think through why sites are going the "Exclusive" route. And don't just say "It makes more money", think "Why does it make more money?"

Returning to the above statement what would make a surfer rebill, one new scene a week or 10 new scenes a week. Assuming the only difference is the exclusive/non exclusive element.

interestingly enough, I've been ranting about this concerning male content for hetero women.

since the for-women niche is small, I notice a saturation in the content on the sites.

Female porn consumers are very picky and will lose interest quickly with the same content over and over.

I would like to see content producers start shooting some male content for the for-women programs but not many of you content producers seem willing. I guess since the market for it is small.

anyway

very interesting way to look at it, maybe content stores are the way to go?

even with exclusive content updated constantly, it's tough to keep the surfer on board. you've gotta have thousands of hours worth of filler content to keep 'em happy.

I agree it depends on your audiance.

If you are aiming at Newb porn surfers from Google then it really dosnt matter - it needs to be good content but not unique.

If you are aiming at old hands then it becomes an issue - but then you have to ask why you would make life difficult for yourself and aim at those surfers?

The problem of shooting for the micro niches is simply that there are not enough sales to make it profitable. We need to sell a scene 10 times to make it worth while. Cut down the available market and 10 sales is unlikely and 20 sales in a micro niche might be saturation if it's on the popular sites.

I'm just curious. What do women prefer? Beefcake type stuff or something different. I have no idea when it comes to the net & magazines for women.

yeah

I just wonder how I can be expected to continue to convert my female traffic if no new content is available.

Shit, I used to do a lot of photography in college. If I had the equipment, I'd shoot it myself!

But alas I don't.

I think its pretty different to what the gay guys like - think 'Fabio'.

Female traffic likes a little bit of everything. Not overly beefy but not twinky-gay looking either. Just nice, in shape guys.

They could care less about seeing spread ass cheeks which is a problem because we sometimes have to use a lot of the same content that gay programs use.

They prefer hard not flacid. It's like what's the point?

Non degrading (obviously) and friendly looking males.

Here's a great tip for female traffic: women like couple-action vids and galleries, toy stores, and little extras (like message boards and humor columns).

Check out Purple Dollars

Karen has got a great site. Take a look and it pretty much has everything women like.

That would help us if there were 30 content providers who could shoot decent teens. Our problem is actually buying it in. Ask Photorama or Adult Czech Content how much we buy of their teens stuff.

The members want good new content on a daily basis, they bought a 30 membership for 30 days entertainment, the struggle is sometimes finding it for them. Without busting the budget.

no need to discusse excl. vs non excl. - once you got FHGs then you got overexposed anything in few days.
Even full exclusive content can be found everywhere once you run FHGs so it doesn't matter at all.

I think it goes deeper than just that Paul....

Comes back to your traffic source, and if they are seasoned porn surfers or noobs joining their first paysite. Seasoned surfers = like fresh where as n00bs don't really know the difference.

If you keep your content OUT of the mass-impression market (TGP/FREE SOURCES) then it won't get overexposed as fast.

I think content and traffic sources go hand in hand... either is useless without the right mixture of the other.

So you would rather we don't discuss the only thing we really have to sell.

So why post and bounce the thread and give me the chance to reply and bounce the thread.
