Warning to Epassporte users....

I chose Epassporte because you will read this but it can be ANYWHERE that you keep your money.

Hackers have stolen the DB to a lot of affiliate programs over the years. This is a fact and you can say it isn't true all you want to if it makes you feel any better.

For a long time hackers used such information for things like using your ISP because they were to cheap to pay $15 a month to get on the net legally.

Hackers have grown a bit smarter. They realize that a ton of you use the same password for your banking and epassporte, paypal, etc, accounts as you do for your affiliate accounts.

If you are one of these people your money is easy to obtain.

Change your banking passwords regulary and don't use your affiliate passwords for your banking passwords.

Peace out...

This has nothing to do with THY other than his situation is a reminder.

You would do this with ABC trades and not your passwords?

The only way they could fix it is to force you to use non dictionary words, include numbers and symbols and somehow know if you are using the same password for them as you are elsewhere (which they cannot do, nor could anyone else for that matter)...

btw, the best way to come up with passwords, or at least the best method I have come up with, is to close your eyes and put one finger on the shift key

hit the keyboard while hitting the shift key on and off a few times

it creates something similar to this:

I would label them thieves because not all hackers steal.

Sucks that people are malicious like this... the internet is still in its infancy, aka the virtual wild wild west.

I still cant believe ppl do that, brute force hackers just use ANY dictionary word there is and ppl still use passwords like test home keyboard or whatever.. plain stupid

Great thread folks. And of special importance to the business owners who have their livelihood stored with their passwords.

FYI RoboForm has:

1) a random generator functionality that can be set up for parameters on each site ie min no. of characters, no. of letters/numbers etc.

2) It doesn't use the keyboard-thus keyloggers are neutralized. In fact we now even have a virtual keyboard for your single-sign on Master Password

3) 256 bit encryption on everything that you do store on it.

4) USB version which stores everything on a USB key for offline storage.

And of course one-click logins that make your online experience more efficient overall

This is why you should use Roboform to generate a seperate password for each site. I use 12 character/number generated passwords with no duplicate characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9 randomized). Quite often we use something easy for us to remember but I'm happy to pay the $30 for Roboform and not have to worry as much.

I was just going to say the same. I do use 12 chars too for my passes. And always auto-generate new passwords for new accounts. Must be a thing smart people use, huh?
