How many of you are familiar with "Operation Ajax" and it's effects on present day?

And no, I don't mean the cleaning agent nor the web development technique.

That's the one... the story is much more involved than even what Wiki mentions, but that is essentially it.

I think a key line here would be:
"Operation Ajax was the first time the Central Intelligence Agency was involved in a plot to overthrow a democratically-elected government."

The CIA was just 6 years old at the time, and what did they put in the place of the democratically elected official? A dictator of their choosing, forever ensuring that 5 US companies would control the majority of the oil in Iran and the people of Iran would control exactly 0%.

How was this done? Primarily through inciting riots and feeding false stories to the media. The people turned on themselves... and to this day, there are many who still feel very upset about this time in history.

My house isn't nearly big enough to test nukes.

Britain was in serious need of US help, since the people of Iran were standing up for themselves. Britain was so in control of their oil at the time, that the actual people of Iran made more money from carpet exports than from the tiny % of oil profits that Britain gave them.

So the people wanted more. Britain turned to Truman for aid, but Truman was very much against Britain colonialism.... feeling that a nation should be allowed to fend for themselves. So he refused to help as Iran does have a right to manage their own resources.

So Britain bided it's time and waited for the next president, and this time they went in with a new story. They knew that Eisenhower was a huge anti-communist politician, and was able to convince him that Iran should not be allowed to develop themselves into a communist nation. He accepted Britains request for help.

It's these things that nobody seems to care about that lead to a chain of events in the long run.... would the WTC still be standing if Operation Ajax had never happened?

We'll never know.

Thanks for the insite.

Anyway, the US replaced Iran's leader with their own "shah"... the result of which meant that opposition to the shah's regime turned against the US, not just Britain.

The shah remained in power from 1953 until the revolution in January, 1979. By October, he was taken to the US for cancer treatments which upset the people greatly. Some Iranian students stormed the US embassy and seized the Americans inside, holding them hostage for 444 days.

What ever hope there was for improved relations disappeared when the new leader, Ayotollah Ruholla Khomeini, refused to release the hostages until the shah was returned to Iran.

Iraq seized the opportunity in the chaos and invaded Iran in 1980. The US sided with Saddam Hussein, providing him weapons, intelligence and economic assistance.

The war raged for 8 long years, with neither side gaining an advantage. So Iraq turned to Kuwait who helped finance their war by giving them a $14 billion loan! Unfortunately, it wasn't long before there was a dispute as to how the loan would be repaid and resulted in Iraq invading Kuwait in 1990. As we all know, this ended up sending the US into the Gulf War against Iraq.

The Islamic fundamentalist state that was set up in Iran following the 1979 revolution supported Islamic terrorists all over the world. It also served as an inspiration to Muslim extremists all over the world, including Afghanistan where Muslim fundamentalists known as the Taliban formed a similar theocratic state in 1996.

Any of this sounding familiar?

Relatively unknown.. yes.

It was supposed to remain a secret forever, at least the gory details anyway. But in April 2000, someone from within the CIA itself leaked the dcuments to the New Yorks Times.

Had that not happened, we still wouldn't know about it.

Everything was fine until Carter let Khomeini take over, and then embarrass the Nation with hostage crisis. That is when the Islamcists were emboldened because they realized the US is not all powerful, and basically a bunch of pussys.

Interesting stuff I must say. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the full text to read it.

It's amazing how manipulated much of society really is... and how very little control people really do have.
