Anybody here pretty knowledgeable on European (UK) VAT?
heres the deal. i've been looking all over the place for an answer to this and i think i've found the answer to everything EXCEPT this. my question is: if i (someone in the US) were to buy something online from a shop in the UK and the item is to be shipped to the US (imported), am i required to pay the VAT on that item?

No you are not. VAT only applies for EU consumers. But you can be charged import tax.
