I've been using my vx2000 for a long time. Great camera for low light with it's 3 1/3" CCD's. Built like a tank too. The mew model is the vx2100.
I'll be moving up to HD camera though for my next purchase. |

vx2100 is built tuff and shoots great looking video.
yes, you can get BETTER quality cams, but we have broken most of them. only the vx2100 remains (2 of them). i even have a vx1000 that i have had since they first came out... still works!!! |

How much are you planning to spend......The FX1 should be within in price range and light years ahead in quality

Umm the VX1000 is not compareble to the GL2 (never heard of an MX camera) ... First off .. the VX1000 was the first generation minidv camera for sony .. way before the GL1 even came out .. Second .. the two cameras dont even have the same pixel ratings, types of CCD, Gain controls, etc... Sony and Canon are worlds apart when it comes to video .. for one thing Canon has an amber feel to its WB presets. THis doesnt mean I dont shoot with a canon .. as a matter of fact we got 2 .. but when shooting for dvd or video release I prefer my PD150 (sony).
Its like comparing a P2 to a P4 ... I can already tell that your content will be to die for ... One word of advice .. if you dont know what camera to get ... Find something else todo .. these types of threads really get my goat ...BTW my goat shoots with a Canon L2 (Should be in your price range) ...

I was going to say why dont you try and find a cheap PD150 as they are now outdated and can be picked up real cheap and are a better buy than the VX
but i would still try and stretch to an FX1 as the image quality is way better than the PD150...and the sound isnt shit |

a huge down side to the vx1000 is you are limited to only 1 type of battery you can use. withthe vx2000 and higher models you can use a range of battery sizes. also, the vx1000 doesnt have the montior so you are forces to look through the eye piece and its also heavy. get the vx2000, vx2100 or the hdr-fx1
