Security in schools is not where the problems start, it's where they end...
That's the point.

What in the hell does the NRA have to do with anything. If you have a problem with guns you are never going to get it solved in America. In case lyou weren't sure the bill of rights allows us to bear arms. Now with that being said, I in no way condone what has happened with the shootings in the schools and the shootings in general.

You can not blame guns for stupid people killing other people with them.

Suspect (in fact, know) the problem lies outside schools - and on many levels.

An education system that feels a need to lay out on paper that pupils should not bring firearms, explosive devices and a range of other devices into schools, may just indicate a small problem exists somewhere? Duh?

Remember reading a five/six page document intended for pupils and could not believe it - down to "no cellphones". Had to ask law enforcement re the cell phones and apparently they are used for drug dealing - shit. There are serious problems outside schools.

Flip side - give "rights" to be armed to the teeth and of course there will be school shootings - along with all other variations.

The reason you can still buy guns is because of the incredibly powerful and influential NRA protecting your right to bear arms. The bill of rights can be changed, but it will never happen sadly.

Wasn't it just a week or so ago someone posted an article bragging about how gun violence was down in the USA? Going on a rant about how ignorant anti-gun lobbyists were.

Well whenever something like this happens, I say: Go tell the families of the victims that gun violence is down ... and the article/ideas posted re: gun violence being down while # of guns are up is like a 500-pound man saying he doesn't have a weight problem because he's lost 10 pounds in the last year, even though he eats more...

Soooo.. you think that criminals register their guns? They join the NRA? They fall back on the Bill of Rights?

Criminals could give a rats ass about the laws.. If they want a gun, they'll get it... no matter what gun laws are enacted..

So let's outlaw guns in the home so any criminal will know he can march right in and take who or what he wants...

Laws are for those who obey them..

not the point....

but more like the more firearms are legally in the society, the more they are accessible to kids ( like last week shooting ) or to thieves robbing houses ....

But this debate will never stick with cowboys, so I will return to my work and let you guys shoot each other

Registering guns has little to do with people who, at some time in their lives, end up out of control. They may or may not be "criminals" and they may or may not be members of the NRA. The NRA membership was never an exclusive elite who were permanently responsible. All walks of life can be members. Membership of any organization never mean't an individual was responsible - or even capable.

Guns in homes remain an ongoing problem (eg children accessing weapons and idiots out of control are more likely to use them).

Only my 2 cents - "guns" are the problem - the public can't be trusted with them.

The day there is a metal detector to get into an Amish school house is the day I give up on the world.

Banning guns is not the answer. Tougher gun laws are. Laws that target those who abuse their guns.

People whose kids get ahold of them. People who illegally carry a gun. Create laws that just so happen to target the unresponsable and also gang bangers.

I have always looked at America's gun ownership rate as a matter of national security. It's probably the only reason we'll never be invaded. The citizens of other countries have only rocks to throw at an invading force.

You serious Matt?

Nobody is interested in invading the US - what are they going to do with it other than take on a load of baggage? If ever the US was likely to be under attack from some other nation/s - it sure would not matter one toss whether the public had guns. There are more relevant weapons in any real war.

Dunno why folks in the US seem to think other countries seem to want to attack the US (apart from a few extremist groups, tho they like to attack other countries as well - not just the US).
