How do you think the online gambling industry will react to the new "gambling ban" ?
Online gaming in crisis over U.S. ban
LONDON (Reuters) - Online gambling firms faced their biggest-ever crisis on Monday after U.S. Congress passed legislation to end Internet gaming there, threatening jobs and wiping 3.5 billion pounds ($6.5 billion) off company values. Britain's PartyGaming Plc, operator of leading Internet poker site PartyPoker.com, and rivals Sportingbet and 888 Plc said they would likely pull out of the United States, their biggest source of revenue. Shares in PartyGaming, which rakes in nearly $4 million a day from its 19 million customers, fell 57 percent by 1155 GMT. Sportingbet, which owns sportsbook.com and ParadisePoker.com, lost 60 percent, 888 was down 33 percent and Austria's bwin.com fell 24 percent. |

Maybe they'll just try to appeal to the foreign markets.

i don't know the details, but it was banned primarily because the WTO was going to impose sanctions over a plan to block some foreign casinos. they threatened to give rights to an island nation to distribute copyrighted music and movies as the US sanction.
what has happened, and what i think will happen: politicians pass it to please the far right. Americans become upset over this new law. congress partially lifts the ban, and leaves it up to each state. the states allow their casinos to go online, and only residents of that state may play. |

The states start their own online gaming and charge more taxes in the process. Many sataes are already doing this with a type of online Keno. What to stop them from going totally online and offering other games?

Well they should have been less greedy, thinking of their own pockets, and kicked their money into the coffers to buy their own Congressmen.
You see, this is why online will always be the whipping dog. You can't get WM's to kick in for collective fights on a unified front. So this is the end result. Now take those old riches, and buy some tissue. ![]() |

Another thought. Bush signs it, then there is the trial at law. Could be a states rights issue? It would still be law until struck down by the courts. An injunction could be issued to enable gambling while the concept is duked on in court.

I imagine the ewallets will pick up the slack. More people will apply for Neteller accounts and business will pick back up.

So Fucking Banned

There is always Western Union. When I deposit into some of my online gaming accounts, I am told to send a wire to a paticular person in another country, not to a company. That person is an appointed reciver for the outfit, as best as I can figure. They probably take a processing fee for themselves and pass the rest on to the operator.
The adult industry and the online gaming industry need to wake the fuck up and take control back of thier industries. The same thing could and will happen to the adult industry if we dont stop putting all our eggs in one basket. People WILL pay for things they want with methods other than credit cards, we simply need to show them the way. |
