    TGP is it okay to do this?

    Hi there,

    Just so you know where I am coming from: I am a newbie, and I have not even gotten my first signup yet. I have started a couple of free sites on free hosts.

    What I am thinking about doing also is to start a TGP. I assume that nones rights are in any way infringed if I post links to great galleries I find on other sites. But there is one great thing I have seen and that is TGP which uses thumbs from the sites they link to as imagelinks. Now technically this must be stealing content - right? - But I assume noone will mind.

    So, you more experienced guys. Tell me I am right, or set me straight.

      Ok, well first off. You really should only use gallery links that are submitted to your site. For one we spend lot's of money on Scripts, and for people to just copy and paste our links is wrong.

      If you need gallerys, there are a number of gallery filling places on the net.

      On your second question, About the thumbs. Again these thumbs are to be stored on your SERVER "Do Not Hotlink Them"

      You will need a thumbnail script like Madthumbs script, the tgp's you have seen are using these thumbs from gallerys people have submitted, they haven't right clicked the thumbs and saved them.

      So in no way are they stealing peoples thumbs, as when you submit a gallery to them, you are asked to upload a thumbnail.

          I won't rip galleries from other tgps then. (Besides I was also bothered by the fact that I do not get revenues of any possible signups)

          I do understand that one is not to hotlink thumbs.

          I will have a look at Madthumbs script.

              Regarding the use of thumbs to link to galleries.

              What about the following situation. I intend to register to a number of affiliates, så I will have a couple of thousand galleries which it is okay to link to.

              Now, what I would like to do is to use thumbs from those galleries, since image links are better.

              Do I have to ask each and every one of those licenceproviders if it is okay that I use thumbs from their galleries? I mean, for chrissake I am doing my best to send them good traffic.

                  I assume you are talking about using a sponsors hosted gallerys?

                  If so most sponsors will let you do what you want, as your using your B/W to promote their site. Short of spamming that is, but I don't think you will have any probs with that.

                      If you need sponsor hosted galleries check my sig.

                      I am certain, that none of them will object to you taking a thumb and hosting it from your server.
