Time for a new winter ride.Porsche,Mercedes or Audi?

I've had an Ml350 for over 3 years now.Other than one dealer related issue with the brakes it's been good in the snow and a decent winter vehicle for Wisconsin.I test drove the Audi and the Cayenne today. The Cayenne handles the best of the three. The Audi is a bit larger than the other two.But I like the styling. The ML350 hasn't changed much in 3 years.Only major thing was they moved the shifter from the console to the tree. Not a bad thing actually.

I'm leaning toward the Audi as well. I don't like the Mercedes at all though.

A class mate of mine is an engineer working for Daimler Benz. We talked about the ML a couple of days ago. He told me that the new model has changed technical and is much better as the old one was.

I prefer the Audi, because I think it´s more stylish, whatever it is.

The only negative about the Audi, was that it felt a lot more like a truck than the other two did.

I like all Mercedes' except the ML, it just doesn't feel a solid as the others.

What about a Mercedes G 500? Fast on the highway, rock solid, and it outperforms a Hummer offroad any day.

If I didn't live in snow country and have a daily 20 mile country road commute,I wouldn't own an suv at all.In the 3 years the ML350 only has 16k miles on it.It's one of those necessary evils here.

I'm surprised at how many of you guys prefer the Audi.Is it based totally on styling? I think on a snowy/icy road the Audi could be a handful to control if/when you start sliding around. It did not feel nimble at all.

We have a local dealership that sells Porsche,BMW,Mercedes and Audi all under one roof.Over the years I have bought a lot of cars from them and always get the best deal there.I like the Volvo and the Toureg.Just not enough to *break in* a new dealership.

Ahh ok, usually (in europe atleast) VW and audi's are sold at the same place. They're both really from the VW company, aren't they?

If you buy it for the snow, the Audi is what you want. The Way the differential work on it makes it lightyears ahead of the two others as soon as you are one a slippery surface. The two others four wheel drive setup is made for dry road handeling, and is worthless in the snow. I would stear clear of the ML. A friend of mine runs a VIP guard company and they have bought those since the first model came out and until the new one this year. They have had nothing but trouble with it. But they have to buy the Mercedes, because that is what their customers expect them to drive.

If I should buy something new, It would be a Toyota or Lexus. They might not be pretty or modern, but if you try them, you would know why I reccomend them. The quality is second to none

i dont have to tell you how much porsche owners love their cars - you should know first hand
this car is flawless... i have yet to find one (I am not counting a high gas consumption a flaw)

My sister just traded her X3 in for the X5.She found the X3 to be very rough riding, and too small for her needs. When she got the X5,I took it off my short list.
