I'm in the same boat. I hate Maxtor and have nothing but love for Western Digital.

LMAO! That's fucking awesome, I wonder if all those drives were dead >_< I only use Hitachi drives these days for critical data storage, Hitachi since about 2k3 has been rock solid. I've yet to have an Hitachi drive fail.

Hitachi is the same as IBM, I like Seagate since they invented the damn thing. But really all hard rives still suck. The next billionaire company is the one that can make a reliable hard drive.

Negative @ Hitachi = IBM. After the IBM deskstar fiasco from around the year 2000 with the cliky noise of death and drives randomly loosing all data (due to a firmware glitch) IBM pretty much got out of it. Hitachi took over the HD dev. and ever since about 2003 their drives have been rock solid. I've yet to have an Hitachi die while during the same time period I've had a couple from each major brand die (mainly maxtors lol).

They all bite it someday! Best to have one or two back ups all the time.

I want solid state hard drives myself. Cant wait for when they actually become affordable.
