100 mph typhoon winds have knocked out the power for 43 million people in the Philippines. Manila has taken a direct hit. I'll post updates as I get them but rest assured that no customers will be charged for downtime. Right now I'm more worried about the safety of everyone there. Please stay tuned.

I hope everyone is safe and sound. I know you guys will get everyone up and running again as soon as possible.
I know our thoughts go out to these guys. I just got back from New Orleans (where the Falcons got killed by the Saints) and I have all kinds of respect for the forces of nature.

The good news is that our office is in the middle of the financial district and thus will be one of the first to get power back. I'm getting reports that they are 75% we'll have power tomorrow.Originally posted by Matt CollinsI hope everyone is safe and sound. The bad news is that the employees will still need to get from their homes to the office and we don't know how bad that situation is.Regards,

It was crazy. I have heard it was the worst many here have seen. Windows blown out, cars flipped over, trees down. (I live 2 blocks from Rick's offices).
I am on 34th floor, my building was swaying 3 inches back and forth.
I am sure everyone will be ok. I think your guys and gals went home early, if they made it in at all.Last edited by Axzar; 09-28-2006, 07:29 AM.Comment

This is very bad. How they can communicate if most ofthe people now have electronic phones. Mobiles work?Comment

Only a few of my people have working phones at the moment. I'm hearing reports that the power is coming back on in many areas and we should be operational this evening, U.S. time. The question remains, what percent of the people will show up to work this evening. Regardless, we are on the case and mobilizing relief efforts for any employees in need of assistance.Originally posted by CristieThis is very bad. Paul and Ermy were stuck in the office yesterday aftertoon/evening PH time....couldn't go outside. Bless their hearts...they were working on going through resumes for recruitment
The last correspondance I had from Angelito was through them at around 1pm PH time in regards to night shifts.
A few of my employees I have setup on PDA phones and they have been feeding me updates on everyone in Bluewire's situation through their email (up until their phone batteries died). Steve said it was the worst one he can remember (He's 30).
Its times like this that you start your work day worried about your business/schedule and end the day worried about your employee's safety....

100 mph winds did all that damage? Do they not have these storms there very often? Here in Florida 100mph is just getting breezy..
Hope everyone there is safe and ok.In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment

Hello! Back to work today!
So tired and I only have 2 hours sleep. We've been cleaning the house since yesterday. So tired but still need to get in the office. We have flood water inside the house, 3ft high. (forgot to bring the cam to post pic here).Still no electricity for two days.
We hired to guys to clean our garden coz two fruit trees fell. And 1 day is not enough to clean all of it.
Bad news.... Our two dogs dead..
On the way going to the office, the TRAFFIC sucks!!!!

I think the Weather people underquoted the speed of the typhoon winds. In CNN and other news agencies, the winds went as high as 200 kph according to a major news network there (GMA Network News).
The rain and the wind had ceased at around 4:30 to 5pm. The real problem was the devastation it had caused. Most of it had to do with goveernment recklessness. The towering billboards didn't follow the proper construction regulations such that they were built too close to the freeways. It was only during that time that the agencies involved realized that they were too close to the road. Tsk Tsk Tsk...Comment
