[SEO] To what extend do domains matter?

If you have many domains with different IPs, you can cross-link them to each other and it does improve your se-ranking, right?!

That in mind, do different domains pointing to one IP also improve rankings?

Can someone PLEASE ban this surfer?

His bullshit replies only to increase his post count is really annoying...
      I'm just a newbie.

        In a word, yes.

Links from a wide selection do help better then say all from one range.

Yeah, but do SEs really rank a site better when it has many domains pointing to it, all set up the same (nameserver, ip)?

It is not very smart idea to interlink sites one to another if they are on the same server and share same ip. It won't by any means increase your rankings, but can only reslut in getting a penaly or even getting banned from SEs. Google has very imporved mechanisam of detecting "spamming networks" of thousands sites on one server. Matt Cutts even suggested that you don't have more than 4-5 sites on the same server, of course all with different theme and different links.

So, no, you won't get better rankings if you link to your sites on the same server, you can just end up on google's blacklist.

                  Hope it helps,
                  Beta~

thx for the tips, but I can still "park" the domains by using 301 redirects, right? THAT won't get me into trouble?!

301 redirects are fine as long as they are made between similar websites (same theme, relevant sites).
