Is anybody actually making good money off those sites?

Free search engine traffic looking for cams, converts great...although I haven't had it in a while.

Anyone with a little money to throw at a few things can easily get it. I should consult. I know everything :) but my monster debt and child support leaves me with nothing.

He's right on that. Join forms seem to work the best especially for cam sites that have free or $1 lifetime joins with cc. Webcams.com converts good though for 4.99. But you can't throw general traffic at this. Has to be people looking for cams. "cams" isn't the keyword(s) you want to target either.

dont feel bad your not alone got a great domain chubbycams.com and it did squat. We tried ifriends for awhile and not much now its for my wife on camz and we still dont get much.

I do 1:100 to 1:500 at worst, when it goes over that I get a bit tripped out.

Hit me up if you want any tips on the promo's you're using, also depends on the source of traffic of course...

Okay, here is the deal (as far as I can tell); If you are marketing to used porn surfers (TGP traffic, link list traffic, etc) you are pretty much screwed. By the time the surfer gets to you, he has already seen X number of cam and dating site links. Basically he is already bored of those things and doesn't want it.

It you are marketing UP the chain a bit (even at the TGP or link site level) you have a little bit more chance.

if you are marketing UP the chain further (direct SE traffic, targetted trades, non-porn entertainment sites) then you are likely doing much better.

Oh, and if you are trying to get into it now, you are too late... Once someone signs up once, they are someone else's client for life (and the cam system's if they paid flat rate once). Basically, if you are sending high volumes of the lowest end traffic, you are someone else's traffic bitch, and you won't make a penny.

(note, my same opinion applied to poker and dating sites... if you are late to the game, you are someone else's bitch making no money and giving your traffic away).

Don't let your bad experience to date deter you, blog/member area traffic is hard to convert - ideally, you need quality seo traffic but if that's not doable try converting niche traffic to niche cam sites/sections. Most programs have promo materials for the major niches and/or let you link directly to profiles in that niche.

As far as motivation, think of 20% lifetime revshare (about standard) and customers dropping up to $100 at a time. Lots of customers go on a binge and drop a few hundred dollars a day. Try making that with pay sites!

Not every customer of course is a whale, but I've had one for example 2 1/2 years running on one cam site. I'd estimate he's made me $3000+ alone. How many joins and rebills would you have to get to come close to that? Again, not everyone is like him, but you do get "medium fish" fairly often who drop a few hundred before they quit/go somewhere else.

The money is there, you just have to stick with it and work until you find the right fit.

Franck, if you want to give cams a try again drop me an email sometime. The promo is usually done a bit different, some sponsors are better than others, etc.

I'm sure I'll seem biased here, but Bob does know how to convert some cams.

Hit him up if you still want to tap that income.

I have never had much luck with cams or dating sites

BigCashCrew 10-02-2006 12:06 PM

Franck, I'm not sure how you are promoting but keep in mind, if it is revshare give it some time. Over time your free users will come back and spend money. It will start adding up if you stick with it. Also look at how you are marketing it. I can give you some free chat credits to my sites so you can get into the mind set of a webcam surfer.

Kimo 10-02-2006 12:33 PM
