They say the F word on Sex and the City too, but usually only once per episode...also its on HBO, so that is somehow more acceptable.

Yeah, southpark is on cable. HBO and other movie channels don't censor the movies like regular cable so you will hear fuck if the movie has fuck in it.

Yes, most if not all the american stations really edit the s*** out of your tv programs and movies, like that TBS Atlanta "super-station", they can't even say "dick" or "tits" on that one, so this topic is kind of amusing for me. Up here in Canada it's a hell of a lot different.
We have, for example....

The Space channel -- All those late-night "movies from space" are run unedited. Some of those old sci-fi movies contained some pretty stimulating content and lingo.

Bravo -- They run shows like "Sex in the City" and uncut movies all the time, the word "Fuck" is said unbleeped.

Showcase Channel -- Don't even get me STARTED on the showcase channel. "Red Shoe Diaries" every friday night (soft porn with David Duchovney), uncut European movies late at night, every night, and many HBO feeds too that are rather racey. There's a lot of gay & lesbo shit going on too on this channel during some weeknights, I wouldn't know how explicit they get with that.

Winnipeg's own A Channel -- runs a good amount of uncut movies late at night every week, they make only a cursory effort to bleep out the word "Fuck".

CBC -- don't let this channel fool you. Some think it's just boring whitebread Canadian & French-Canadian foolishness.......and you'd mostly be right. BUT, every night after the 11 oclock news they run a movie, and many many MANY of those movies are these "film festival" type movies that contain everything from nudity and strong language warnings to themes bordering on child porn or extreme sexuality coupled with violence..... in other words, obscenity. But it's only borderline, so it's supposedly okay.
